I can't even remember when I joined (the early 2000s are a bit of a blur for me, what with college and uni and desperately looking for employment), but I'm glad I found this place.

That's kind-of what's happened in my (by now somewhat convoluted) fanverse:
Rodimus Prime received the Matrix, whiffed it, then handed the reigns back to Optimus when he came back. Hot Rod is left with the sense that he's not worthy, and could never be as great a leader as Optimus.

I mean, I can see some complaints that Rodimus is basically Bumblebee (or maybe a Bumblebee/Jazz fusion), and that he came out of nowhere rather than using the kid-appeal character who was already right there.
I've always favoured a more abstract translation.

I know Cobra loved their sci-fi superweapons, but they always struck me as the more "analogue" terrorists, just with fancy-yet-ultimately-conventional gear.
