Was at Walmart and decided to check their costume section for that light up Matrix accessory. Didn't find it, but they did have several other items. All rather small child sized, but interesting:
G1 Optimus Prime Ion Cannon
Movie verse Bumblebee arm cannon
Movie verse Optimus Prime sword...
Huh! I was today years old when I learned about the Warren playset. I've known about the S.T.A.R.S. base for a little while, but this one was new to me.
(Mostly) Same. The only thing I'd do different is, instead of making it the Ark as a ship, I'd make it Mt. St. Hilary with the Ark sticking out as a doorway. Then it splits in half to open, Castle Greyskull style, into "that room."
The Teletraan 1 / Mainframe that came with the Ark did a...
I really don't mind the idea that Star Trek's timeline diverged from ours back in the 60's. For a long-lived franchise, it's nice to not have to keep moving "historical" events and technologies around based on real life events.
EDIT: Or maybe the timeline diverged in 1986 due to the early...
It's interesting that Orion Pax has a windshield to allow theoretical passengers/drivers to see out, but most of the others don't. Without having seen the movie, I don't know what relationship this continuity's Cybertronians have to any other race, but it seems like maybe this is a world where...
Oof, yeah, that Linkin Park Soundwave was also pretty hideous.
J Blavintron was also ugly, but in an endearing "carded KO in the back of a dollar store" way, and though I never bought one, I've always secretly coveted those Flora Dery colored blast effects.
I guess these are appealing to fans of the celebrity or to people who just like interesting pop-culture collectibles, but they don't do anything for me.
Now, the Bathing Ape Optimus and Primitive Skateboarding Shreddicus Maximus were both pretty great looking independent of what they were...
That....is pretty hideous. I'm guessing they were going for a Voltron-esque sort of thing? Like we're supposed to assume that he's the combined form of several separate pieces?
I always liked the idea of Primus and Unicron being similar to Greco-Roman gods or Tolkien's Valar, embodiments of some fundamental part of the universe. Primus was the avatar of entropy, with his soul constantly splitting off parts of itself as sparks in an attempt to spread throughout the...
It actually would make sense if the roles were reversed. A human (or Nebulan) running around with a sentient gun that, with it's mechanical sensors and precise movement control, can aim better than the squishy organism holding it makes a lot of sense. Reversing that so that the meatbag is...
I guess the Targetmasters work if you have them shoulder mounted or whatever as an additional gunner, like on Stepper, but when the main robot is holding them like a handgun and pointing them where they want to shoot, I have to wonder what the Nebulon contributes.
Plus, it never really made much sense. I just can't imagine that having a smaller person be your handgun (or engine, or head, or whatever) would improve your combat abilities.
