What struck me is everyone has had a toy in the last decade, but its the characters from a show that'd have offered some relief from the constant G1 rehashing that causes people (even the toy designers!) to wag their finger and scold me for not having the old figure.
Kingdom gave me some hope...
At least the G1-ified Prime thing is a theme throughout I guess? 🤷♂️
Meanwhile literally everyone else in the wave has had more recent updates. Not that they're unwarranted, just kinda extra disappointing on the Prime end.
G1 = faithful updates
Movieverse = faithful updates
Beast Wars = faithful updates
Star Saber and UT Metroplex = faithful updates
Prime = we know we just teased you with those impossible reissues and everything, but you're wrong if you're wanting faithful updates
Like I dunno, if the entire line...

Nabbed a T30 Waspinator when BBTS briefly had him. Kinda wild that the $20 pricetag feels reasonable when $15 back in the day seemed outrageous, and now the new Kingdom one is pushing $25...
Scott McNeil Gang!
(got no Dinobot, so accept a different heroic 90s cartoon...
Van Helsing
Kinda weird that early 2000s movies can feel nostalgic now, but there's something appealing about a movie that just IS a mashup of a bunch of horror icons instead of teasing one in the credits. Lots of little details to appreciate, too: the mirror at the masquerade ball showing just...
I hadn't really appreciated how insanely complex General Grievous' design was before building the Bandai model of him.
I mean holy hell, looks at his neck.
I was initially disappointed that his guts are unpainted despite the stock images suggesting otherwise, but it gets covered by so many...
Botbots were a lot of fun. Collecting them wasn't.
As exciting as the cartoon may be, it just reminds me that I really need to downsize my BotBots. Besides the extras, so many of these were just passing fancies I'd gotten because they're relatively cheap.
2020: I really ought to get more Beast Wars stuff...
2021: There we go (Quackles is never going back to the BotBots shelf now)
Incidentally, I kinda miss how rubsigns united my BW collection.
A general thread for toys.
I've been eyeing the Beasts of the Mesozoic Raptors for a while now, finally got one now since Kingdom Grimlock made me realize I somehow still didn't have a properly feathered toy of my favorite type of dinosaur.
I was considering getting a couple more, but...
"A smelly smell that smells... smelly."
RiD '15 had a lot of neat animal-bot designs that the toyline decided to mostly ignore. At least Clampdown managed got a Legends toy.
No code for me. Guess I didn't click the right thing? Meh. I honestly forgot I even got regular Zarude last time around, jumping through hoops (and signing up for spam) to get another one with a scarf that's just gonna be boxed and forgotten isn't worth the effort.
Sparkdrinker looks quite a bit more like a bucket-wheel excavator, which is great. Metroplex himself is.... maybe not worse?
Nice to see more non-G1 stuff (and honestly more non-BW/Prime/Movie stuff, too). The wild-ass fuchsia and teal cyber punk package design is kinda amazing.
