G.I. Joe thread - 09/13/2024: Pulsecon - Dreadnoks, Dogs and Cereal

A GI Joe machine was a fixture at Family Fun Center arcade in Omaha for years. Wish I knew what happened to that machine when it closed for good...

    Anime

Definitely recommend Giant Robo (also Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, but that isn't anime) and They Were Eleven. Would also recommend Patlabor (TV series and follow-up series, though the original OVAs and movies aren't bad, just a different continuity) and Planetes.

Was that deco based on the Whirl knock-off 'Shank' from Solar Adventure/Robot King Sunshark?

Random Thoughts From Out of Nowhere

Depends on the vacuum. There's a few that use a belt drive for the agitator drum, and if that get bound up with hair, it will smoke a belt. That's a relatively easy fix. If the smoke is coming out of the motor itself, then, yeah, it's toast.

    Transformers Legacy toyline

Now I really want to see the Junkions reissued in dark blue as a Zod set. The world needs more Zod (also Scales. Really, just more GoBots in general.).

    The Robotics Thread

If I understand correctly, the OVAs are the original series, and the movies are set in that continuity. The TV series retells a lot of the OVA stories with slight differences, then goes beyond those and I just like it better. The follow-up to the tv series (that ties up the Griffon story thread...

    The Robotics Thread

This robot and the Kuratas both remind me a lot of the "Crabman" series or HAL X-10 labors from Patlabor. (Incidentally, if you've never seen Patlabor, its one of the best Robot in Real Life series out there, with a quirky cast and a nice variety of stories, the tv series is my favorite version)...

Make them in 3-3/4" o-ring, and they're bought. I just can't justify the price or space for Classified that aren't B.A.T.s. (or B.A.A.T.s, those would be cool)

Mayhem Transformers Discussion: United We Shelfwarm

I tried to pick up most of the Godzilla crossover Magic cards when they did that promo with Ikoria a couple years ago. Never did get close to a full set, though. Never actually played any Magic, either.

    The Random Transformers Image Thread

So, we have a company that travels around the Midwest selling premium cookies out of a trailer, and their hook is periodic photo Ops with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee costumes. I don't know whether they are officially licensed or not, but they are pretty cool: They're a pretty great crew; how...

I had to buy AoE one-step Rollbar because I drive a Chevy Sonic. Should have gotten the Skids redeco, too, but didn't want to pay for an Optimus I didn't need. It's one of Haywire3's favorite Transformers, and we call my car Rollbar because of it.

How Old Were You When Trans Formers G I Started On TV?

I would have been almost 3 1/2 when the original series premiered. I can pretty confidently say by the time I was 4, I was hooked on Transformers, GI Joe, and Gobots. It was a good time to be a kid. Maybe not a great time to be a parent, though.

    Takara Missing Link G1 Series

I am pretty much here. If it's a Gobots reference, it becomes a must-own-at-any*-price (*though I recently discovered during an ebay auction what my upper limit was for even that kind of purchase). On the other hand, I've passed on some stuff recently that would have been bought on sight 10-15...
