I don't mind the alt mode because it's in the same space as movie Hound and he's also Bulkhead. But yeah, there's no way to get a good Bulkhead out of an Optimus and this toy isn't pulling off any unexpected magic. (And if it hadn't needed to be Optimus, they could have used a version of this...
The combination is the closest I've seen to something looking like the movie Decepticon "ball of knives" aesthetic while actually having a majority of those parts be actual moving pieces of the toy. = o
Naw, for the first three movies they made an effort with lots of little bits scurrying around or locking into place at the beginning and end of the transformation. What happened in between was bullshit, but it did usually involve the wheels moving from point to point etc. Then of course the...
I still don't see tec advocating for the animation model alt mode, maybe I missed that. He did say that he thought that even the Starscream retool was better than the Legacy version. But yeah, he also called Earthrise Arcee "passable" so all of his opinions are clearly invalid anyway.
Edit...
Who are you disagreeing with? The only other person who's mentioned the animation model is me, and that was to say that the alt mode is hot garbage. You know people can like and dislike things based on something other than cartoon accuracy right?
Well anything to cause tec pain.
I don't think the pink really works into the design well, the headlights and grille look vintage on a futuristic car, the hat is ridiculous, and the profile of the fender into brick into bigger brick looks really bad IMO. It's all very, composed of slabs, in...
Elita 1 is an entirely decent robot. That's a lot more than can be said for Arcee and her "hoverboard". Arcee wishes she could transform from a normal robot with an ordinary amount of kibble into the Homer.
I'm going to steal April's Elita 1 because I just love that stupid car mode so much. It's sad and I want to take care of it. Someone pointed out that it looks like the Homer and it's uncanny, down to the megaphone on top. Actually not a terrible robot either.
Edit: The Tarantulas is certainly...
Hasbro's had that rule of not releasing combiners that require multiple specific figures to work - Combiner Wars had to be cross compatible across a wide selection of figures, Titan combiners came in a single box, and Battleslash and Roadtrap worked independently and hid the fact that they could...
Eh, gerwalk mode exists because the creator liked it all along and wanted the robot to look like that, and then accidentally made it so that the toy could still turn into that too. Personally I'm all for the vibe of half of a fighter plane with fists and jet skates and don't need the other two...
Those look identical to me except for the angle of the center section. Is that all that's going on here? If so, that seems less like two modes and more like angling up for a mortar shot.
