Possibly? A few years ago, I would definitely have agreed, but the current design team seems to be more "one of us" than some past teams. Plus, it's not like they have shown an unwillingness to do the same characters repeatedly with slight variations/improvements. Just look at Ironhide going...
Preordered. I actually prefer clear windows, but I needed that sweet sweet Jeep Hound, and I never managed to get a Sunstreaker the first go round. I have several Jazzes and several characters from this mold, but not the overlap in the Venn diagram, so 3 out of 5 are "new" to me. Trailbreaker...
I more or less figured that the mold was always intended to be a half-way point between the two Skyquakes so that a new color scheme/head would be all that was needed to go from one to the other. But to your point, honestly, even just being in G1 Skyquake's colors would be enough for me to buy...
I have to assume the tooling already exists for the G1 Skyquake/MW Starscream/King Atlas remold, so hopefully we see it at SOME point in the future, be it in Selects or some Walmart or Target exclusive subline or something.
I mean, we have to be getting G1 Skyquake at some point, right? The mold was pretty clearly designed with him in mind, even including the combining-with-smaller-jets gimmick.
It wouldn't be the first time the obvious use of a mold wasn't ever done, but it would seem especially shocking in this...
I have a soft spot for these sorts of cheap transforming robots. You mentioned that you had pics of the letter combiners up on Facebook, where would that be at?
I kind of like concept Rumble. He feels to me very much like a generic Season 1 background Decepticon. Basically, he's this guy:
He doesn't transform so much as he compacts, but that's fine for what he is. Not my favorite figure by any means, but not terrible.
Definitely an interesting set of figures. I'm not sure I'm in for re-dos of the old Combiner Wars gestalts. I skipped CW Menasor because I thought surely there would be a better version of him down the line, so I was happy to be correct on that one, but I'm actually pretty satisfied with my...
Inspired by the conversation going on in the Studio Series 86 Thread post pictures of you as a child (or child at heart!) playing with toys from "Back in the Day" whenever that may have been for you!
Here's me at Christmas 1985 getting my first Dinobot
I'd love it if SS Megatron turned into a Howitzer type cannon:
So that he still turns into "a gun" even if not a handgun. He can have various bits-and-bob accessories that can beef up the basic cannon to something more like this:
Curious to see what the new Devy looks like, though I doubt I'll spring for it. I finally recently bought the CW one, so even though this one will probably be better in ways, I can't imagine it would be better enough to justify replacing my current one.
Picked up a couple of Big Looker storybooks that I was missing at a vintage toy store today while out of town on business. I just love the art in these things:
Also picked up a couple of Challenge of the Gobots Storybook/Record combos. I'm not sure if it's because they're easier to draw...
