Hmm, you're right. I was 100% sure that it would be Blaster, but the hand color is wrong. Maybe it's Hot Rod / Rodimus and they'll do a Galvatron to go with him?
I also already have the Netflix Soundwave, but mine is pretty badly yellowed. I wouldn't be opposed to picking up another, especially if it FINALLY comes with Buzzsaw.
It's not a bad Bumblebee, but definitely not better than the ones I already have.
But, give me this exact toy with a Bumper head, or repainted into Glyph or Wasp or something, and I'm all over it.
I definitely like the look, as I love tinier versions of things I already have, but that $80 price tag is a little extreme.
I do wonder if he's compatible with the trailer from the vehicle mode Optimus from earlier.
Yeah, I'm definitely getting him because I'll buy any cassette they want to make. That said, he looks like he would be considered a great accessory if he came with Blaster, but he's a bit lackluster as a standalone. Skipping the speaker and giving him independently hinged feet and/or knees to...
I'll probably buy this set, mostly for the Rock Lord and cassette. I do like this Thundertron's hook hand and the fact that he has a new head, but I wish his color scheme was different so that he would be useable as a new character in addition to the Thundertron I have.
I know in the movie it's an actual Quintesson, but importing the figure into a G1-adjacent collection, I can see headcanoning it as one of their creations, similar to the Sharkticons or Transorganics. Like the Quintessons built themselves a fleet of biomechanical warships that also had robot modes.
I wasn't a comic reader (well, buyer I guess. I had a medium stack of my dad's old silver age comics that I would read repeatedly) as a kid, so I never even knew that there WERE Transformers comics until I got back into the brand as a young adult.
But agreed, Happy Birthday, Transformers!
