"Actual" colors in B&W movies can be tricky-- sometimes the art direction would have odd colors because they showed better contrast or otherwise looked better on-screen.
So color stills (or actual costumes, props, etc.) of a B&W movie set may not be an accurate reflection of the intention...
Yeah, a Joe/TF crossover only works when either A) both are active/vibrant franchises, or 2. when it's a ground-up reboot.
Grafting a dormant property onto a successful one IMO is much harder.
There's enough zany/wacky kid-appeal character in what we've seen that I half expect Bee to get PTSD during the film.
It would, thematically, tie in nicely to Charlie's depression in her movie. In this essay I will
There's also the exclusive/limited factor. In the Old Days, Botcon (for example) exclusives were generally 2-3x the cost of the original molds.
I don't know how limited Dinoking will
be, but almost certainly not mass retail numbers.
(IIRC the last non-convention exclusive we actually got...
RED ALERT WOO WOO WOO
Hey, that G2 Grimlock doesn't say (repack) so maybe it'll be blue (as God intended) and maaaaybe we'll get other G2 Dinobots please please I hope I hope
One of the swords on mine will *not* peg into either spot underneath. The tolerances between some of the other weapons/spots are finicky. (The heads store fine.)
With seven separate weapons, it's hard to get a perfect score.
Party Wallop arrived the other day, and he's fine. The accessory storage doesn't quite work with a few of the weapons, which is okay because there are a lot of them, and it's not like I'm going to switch up the colors and weapons much.
They kind of missed an opportunity to do Metalhead, but A)...
There's also Motormaster, but I'm not sure how often he showed up in the same frame/panel with a clear scale reference.
ANYWAY IIRC someone once made a robot-mode scale chart based on the actual vehicle sizes and it was wiiiild. The Minibots were obvious offenders, and of course the Seekers...
What was the original release plan? I seem to remember "mid-July" but I don't remember if that was based on anything or just my guess. (And do we know if it's supposed to be two waves or just one?)
G2 Rook, Mindset, any other Imperials besides Jhiaxus and those two generics.
I mean, they were all on my "lololol not gonna happen ever never ever" list but they *were* above FLAME.
OTOH, I am astounded and amazed that we haven't gotten proper G1 Omnibots.
Or new Mini-Spies.
See also Legacy Armada Megatron. Slightly smaller, lost all its gimmicks- including Mini-Con hardpoints (and therefore 90% of its play value), but has knees.
Disappointing.
I would totally do that iff Flame was also based on Refraktor.
Refraktor's awesome. Great generic robot mode, ridiculous altmode, and three combine to form a recognizable thing.
(and you can keep expanding beyond all
logic and sense)
The disconnect between the toy and the art on the box is incredible. I wanna say it hasn't been that bad since Beast Machines, but there has to be something more recent.
(I'm ignoring One-Steps and such and focusing on altmodes, but maybe that's unfair.)
He's cool and all, but I object to the assertion that his jet mode is "Cybertronian" or that anything about him is "iconic."
I know marketing people gotta marketing, but jeeeeeez.
