Yeah, I don't think I saw anything beyond FFOD until I torrented everything G1 in the late 2000's. We have it much easier now.
To be honest, most of my Transformers media consumption during my childhood ended up being from the Marvel comics that I slowly collected from the used book stores...
I only would have been two when G1 first kicked off. I honestly don't know when I started watching it, but I HAD to have watched it at some point to get an interest.
It's a weird blank spot, especially for something that I've been very interested in ever since.
The worst part about this time of year is that every time you walk out the door, there's an onslaught of various bugs that want nothing more than to knock you on your butt.
I pulled out my copies of CW Bonecrusher and Scrapper yesterday and fiddled with them for a while. Then I look at the SS86 pics, and I'm trying to figure out if they're really worth double what I paid a decade ago. I wish it had been more of a slam dunk decision. That said, due to family stuff...
I hate how much I want that Galvatron.
But there's no way I'm spending $90 for it, and my paint spattered, backwards shoulder Kingdom version will get less than nothing on the secondary market.
I feel kinda terrible for wanting these. But Gears looks so good in a toy based getup, and I'm a sucker for the licensed Beetle 'Bee.
Though I can't help but think that SS86 Bumblebee with a toy based head would have absolutely nailed what Hasbro was going for here.
But, hopefully, preorders...
I really wouldn't have minded having a Buzzsaw, but I sure as sugar wasn't gonna buy everything else again to get it.
That's a great group shot, though!
It's funny. For me, Prime is the shade of red that I wish Earthrise was. The vibrancy really does it for me. But, of course, it's always subjective! :)
I don't blame anyone that's happy with Earthrise wanting to stick with it! I've always had nitpicks with the design, but I will always remember...
I think ER Optimus will live on in my collection as a more toy-etic version of Prime (in hindsight, I kinda wish it got the yellow eyes as seen in the original stock images).
That mold is too good to just part with!
The more I play with Prime, the more I'm absolutely adoring this figure. This really feels like everything I could ever have wanted from a mainline '84 Optimus.
To me, there's no way that Hasbro could really improve on this without being iterative at this point.
Nemesis Prime is still by far the best use of that PotP mold.
I only wish that it had the Star Convoy version of the small bot, though. But the spiky mohawk was a nice touch.
