Thanks for the recommendation, looks cute! I love how a lot of rom coms are doing more unusual/less tropey things these days.

Just been watching the first two eps of The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: From Villainess to Savior, its another isskai series, where the central character is killed by Truck-kun and reborn in another world that is based upon a game they played in their previous life and they are the game villian, as the villian, she sets about redeeming herself and alter the story and she got ten years to do it, otherwise, she will die, as the villian she was cruel and cold hearted, going as far as to trick her brother by adoption into signing a magical contract that makes them a slave to her whims and has him do a act that nobody should do, so effectively the story is a redemeption arc for the main character!

So in crazy unexpected news, they just gave news that Gun Gale Online has another season in production.
Time for more of the pink Military little person to massacre the rest of the players with her pink P-90😅

I rather liked that more than the main series of SAO, because its not to serious and the main character is playing a game, the main problem with SAO is that the series lost its edge after the first arc and devolved into genetic battle series and Kitro tends to be over powered as a main character, while our pink Herowin, isn't she just a normal person with a height complex and most of the time, she playing for fun and you get to enjoy her having fun at the same time, with the main series, only one part has been the heroes just playing the game their in and not worrying about life or death situtions!

Anyway, I just been watching the latest ep of My Unique Skill Makes Me OP Even at Level 1, while its not bring anything seriously new to Isakai, its just one of those shows, where you switch off your brain and have fun, thou how the main character arrives in his new world, is rather different to a lot other shows, he is a drop item when a girl called Emily kills a slime! The second main girl, is a bit weird, while a bunny girl, who hates low levels, she got a intersting phrase "Carrot, or death!"

SAO was never good and its continued financial success is the biggest reason we get at least seven shitty incel-bait wish fulfillment isekai titles every goddamn season

Well that’s seven less generic high school rom coms etc. I get the hate on isekai, but it exsisted long before SAO. They just Re-popularized the video game version of the genre after Dot Hack had been dormant for years.

And to some extent I get the hate on SAO. OP protag gets all the ladies and is the best evah definitely isn’t going to be for everyone. And some very problematic scenes can be difficult for some to get past.

But I’ll admit, I was entertained with GGO and am happy to see it back. It’s not directly from Reki Kawahara, so some of the more squicky elements aren’t as prominent.

Last page, I wrote:
It would be irresponsible to draw any broad subcultural portrait from anecdata, but if you've ever seen a 5'0 woman trying to step on random men at a convention...
And now we have video of one man being multiply stepped upon at a convention.
I'm not sure if this works in the bakery thread or here, but I had to share it nonetheless.

Remember, no shaming! 🙃

People can hate on isekai all they want, I still say it's the best thing to happen to anime in a long time.

Like this season we get a show about someone becoming a Vending machine in another world, and weirder still, it kinda works.

You'd NEVER get a story like this or "Heretical Last Boss Queen" before isekai got popular and that's why I love that isekai got popular. It's forcing people to get creative, use their imagination on writing new scenarios. You can't just go: "Villain is so strong, mocks the hero, hero goes on long quest, yadda yadda, finally defeats them."

No, now they're are trying to come up with the next weird thing to do, and yes there are some that just won't work, but I'm here for the ones that DO.

And hey if you really don't care for isekai that much, do what I did during the: "Oh Azu Manga Daioh was so popular! (EVen though it was BORING) Let's make nothing but a ton of random slice of life shows where it's just cute girls doing cute things for 12 episodes!"

Do what I did and just go watch something else. There are a ton of shows that could be anime, western cartoons, or live action stuff you haven't seen. Just go explore that stuff.

(I'm sorry but all those slice of life stuff was like:

Girl 1: Let's make a cake!

Girl 2: Yeah!

*later*

Girl 2: Oh boy cake! *takes bite and face goes pale* Gah! This is horrible! Oh no what went wrong?

Girl 1: Oh no! We mistook salt for sugar!

Girl 2: Oh us. *both laugh*

That's great for a scene, but the entire show was always like this. Nothing but this. It's boring BORING I SAY!)

Hell the only one I got into was Lucky Star, but after I saw it once I just have no desire to ever watch it again.

I mean, that's not an entirely incorrect description of Azumanga Daioh, but it WAS based on a Manga that was largely written in 4-panel segments (like a newspaper comic), so the anime kind of managed to recreate that feel.

Now, Cromartie High was a great slice of life anime...

You've just described something like 20% of DDLC fanfics/view-only mods/cosplay skits.

Which is a bit of a double subversion, considering how the game was perfectly wholesome with absolutely nothing going wrong at all, but that's the game's fandom for you.

Another trailer for the live action One Piece!

...Okay, this is looking pretty good. I'm a little hyped now.

Koby and Mihawk look spot on. And I'm even a little impressed by how okay Arlong looks.

I'm not totally sold on this actor for Gol D. Roger, but I see what they're going for. He's supposed to be a more "traditional" pirate, and this actor fits the bill. I just wish his voice was a little deeper or something.

But, yeah...this might just be okay. *fingers crossed*

Also, a message from Oda:

While we're at it, concerning current chapters of One Piece....(Spoilers for chapter 1088)..
Yeah...I'm not sure if I'm buying Garp's defeat. I just have to wonder if this was all a part of a plan to get closer to Blackbeard so he could get a chance to take him out.

Some Youtubers are wondering if Blackbeard will try to collect Garp's Cross Guild bounty. And they're not sure they can actually PAY a bounty that high. That could lead to some fun stories going forward.

And little Koby sure has grown over the years. *snff* He's making us proud.

I AM looking forward to finally seeing the Strawhats again, though. These side stories have been REALLY good...but it's been, what? 4 months since we last saw the Strawhats? I was starting to wonder if we'd only get to see the aftermath of whatever happened on Egghead. Like the inverse of what happens with some of the side stories. Like the fight between Ace and Blackbeard.

Gol D Rodger voice does sound kind of bland, Arlong, looks kind of weird, Buggy, they somehow nailed it! The only thing, I might improve this, is if was Hans Zimmer was involved doing the score!

Pokemon TV has posted 12 episodes of Ultimate Journeys.

I can now see Master Journeys without Netflix.

Netflix has posted Ultimate Journeys so as figured I'm a year behind them to see it.

2024 will be Horizons on Pokemon TV.

Netflix only has Journeys and Horizons.

Once Ultimate Journeys fills in Sun and Moon will be switched into rotation.

If you enjoyed Skip & Loafer and Yamada-kun, check out The Dangers In My Heart. It's the same kind of sweet rom-com (with a second season to come in January), about an edgy angry serial-killer-obsessed high-school kid who claims to hate everyone. Then this happens.

It was cute! Glad there's a season 2 coming up.
Since I signed up for a trial of Hi-Dive for it, I'm checking out some other stuff. Watched Hitorijime my Hero, sadly no Japanese track but the dub was kinda funny. Series itself had some yaoi clichés.

A few eps into Oshi no Ko. Decided to check it out, I've seen some short clips/heard one of the songs and the expressive eyes are fun. Wasn't expecting much from the description. The unexpected twist in the 1st ep got me hooked. Once again I'm afraid of it becoming a harem with all the cute girls, but we'll see.

The top left sound effect is reversed. Sorry, but that's not actual katakana.

Finished season 1 of Oshi no Ko: Welp, I wasn't sure what to expect from "guy reincarnates as his fav idol's son", but
warning: major spoiler ahead. Do not click if you want to watch the show.
"Idol gets murdered when OC is a kid, sending him on a path for revenge" sure wasn't it.
This show also gives probably the most accurate anime depiction of the entertainment industry: cutthroat, and all about the money.
There are parts where it feels like the plot might be losing focus, but it all comes back to MC's true motivation.
Definitely curious to see where it goes. There's a love triangle but no harem, which is good, but there's also a heck of a lot more cute girls than guys.

New Grendizer series coming.

The new anime is described as a reboot of the original 1975-1977 anime.

Mitsuo Fukuda (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Gear Fighter Dendoh, Future GPX Cyber Formula) is the anime's chief director at GAINA, and Go Nagai is the executive director on the project. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury) is writing and overseeing the series scripts. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Wolf Children, Gunbuster 2: Diebuster) is designing the characters, and Kōhei Tanaka (One Piece, Sakura Wars, Dirty Pair) is composing the music.

Gear 5 debuts!!

Just been watching the latest ep of: My Unique Skill Makes Me OP even at Level 1, honestly, its actually pretty good, sure its nothing to serious or really bring much to the table of Isakai, but it makes for a good fun watch and has a weird world, where you acquire food and items via drop items, the central character arrival in this new world, is by the same system and he kind of building a bit of girls, thou so far, only two are intersted in him romantically, while the third is intersted in the carrot drop items he produces, its just one of those shows where you switch off your brain and have fun
