Sometimes you never know. Not that I'm saying you're dumb or anything. But I've been on both ends of someone just assuming someone knows a franchise and then there's that awkward moment. Of course I guess now if you don't assume someone knows a franchise you still get that awkward moment.

So....umm....awkward!

is that the tomb raider game that came with the bs note from the 'developers' ?
Oh, those photos way up there I posted months ago and forgot about even though they're on the same page as the SF pics.

*sigh*

Yes, it was the Tomb Raider HD Remasters that came with the bs note. Though thankfully, as BS as it was, at least it only appears the first time you boot it up.

oh, okay that's good at least. If I had to see that every time I don't think I'd buy the game. might see if I can track down a ps4 copy

Crystal Dynamics were so ashamed of Lara Crofts past that they made Aspyr put a disclaimer in the Tomb Raider I-II-III Remasters that basically said they don't agree with the depictions of certain people and Lara's despicable actions throughout the game and as much as they think Core design should be ashamed of themselves for such horrid things that were put in these games, they decided (like they had a choice in the matter since this was Aspyr's projecy) that they would keep the games as they were for the sake of history.

Paraphrased obviously, but thankfully it's only shown once the first time you play it.

Gotcha, thanks. Never played/watched the old games, so I wouldn't know. Still, usually they keep it at "all chars/events are fictional and do not represent actual things or our company's thoughts/policies" or whatever.

I mean, I was paraphrasing, but they were being asshats particularly throwing Core under the bus while trying to claim moral high ground. You know what? I'll go ahead and post this, but let's see if I can find it on Google.

yeah... please for the love of all that is holy, don't base your entire personality and world view on this remake of games from 4 console generations ago... we don't really think very highly of our paying customers' levels of intelligence and we certainly don't think you'd be able to come to this conclusion on your own, so we've put this disclaimer here to let you know how superior we are to those dirty core developers while we get payed for their work. their shameful, shameful work... thank you for the money... shame shame

Yeah, they should've gone with a more generic statement. They do sound full of themselves, lol.

Makes me think of the God of War games. Like if they put a disclaimer on the old remastered games saying they were made while young and horny, but pls check out the newer GoW, we matured!

I just read stuff like that and feel better about my life. Whoever wrote that disclaimer is experiencing a level of joylessness beyond my imagination. The poor soul.

You love a (cyber) woman who can kick your ass? ;)

Also, speaking of Appleseed. Did you ever watch the Appleseed Alpha movie?

I knew someone was going to say something like that (though I thought the term 'sex bot' was going to be used). But I love the way you say it. 😂

Also, speaking of Appleseed. Did you ever watch the Appleseed Alpha movie?

I have all of them except XIII. I'm going to have to correct that at some point. I have to admit, it's been a while and my memories of them are pretty rusty. So I'm going to have to rewatch them again.

Hehe. I thought ‘sex bot’ might be a little too on-the-nose. Plus, all these girls spend as much (if not more) time kicking as than looking sexy.

I’ve never seen Appleseed XIII either. I’ve got the other films too. First one is pretty good. Ex Machina is both better in places and not quite as good. Alpha is both a fun watch and kinda confusing, since it is functionally a soft reboot, with Briareos already in his Hecate cyber body.

I’ve never read the mangas for any of these. Just seen the anime movies and series. Or the live action film in Alitas case.

Three years or so ago I played Nier Automata, a game about an action girl fighting robotic enemies in a post-apocalyptic future where the twist is that
humanity went extinct and was replaced with artificial lookalikes, and an AI foe wants to finish the job.

Then two years ago I played Horizon Forbidden West, a game about an action girl fighting robotic enemies in a post-apocalyptic future where the twist is that
humanity went extinct and was replaced with artificial lookalikes, and an AI foe wants to finish the job.

Then last year I played Stellar Blade, a game about an action girl fighting robotic enemies in a post-apocalyptic future where the twist is that
humanity went extinct and was replaced with artificial lookalikes, and an AI foe wants to finish the job.

Wonder what's coming out this year.

TMM, it's scary some time just how on the nose we think alike sometimes. That is so absolutely true that it could be a sub-genre in itself.

Anyway;

Ghost in the Shell: Watched the movies, watched the SaC series up to a point, read the first and second manga. In the process of reading the 1.5 manga.

Appleseed: Watched all the movies. Have not watched XIII. I own all the manga on my kindle app, but got so burnt out at the time that I couldn't even get through the first one. Got. To rectify that one.

Alita: Watched the live action movie which led me to watch the OVA which led me to read the manga...all if it...including: Mars Chronicles, Last Order and Holy Night & Other Stories.

Nier: I played Automata (Platinumed through...less than honorable means). I also played Replicant while it was a part of the PS+ library. But they took it off and i have no interest in further paying to complete it. It didn't catch me the same. I have Crunchy Roll so I can watch the anime. But it's been going more slowly since I finished the game.

Stellar Blade: As far as I know there's only the game so far. I've completed it several times. Platinumed it. If there's ever a sequel, I'll definietly have to check it out.

Cyberpunk: Finished the game. Platinumed the PS4 version but just don't have it in me to go for the PS5 plat. Watched Edgerunners (really wish they'd put that on Bluray). Read several of the comic books, but kinda stopped after a while. I have both the Red and 2020 tabletop core books, though I never found. A group to play with.

I'm honestly considering getting Akira in 4K even though I don't have a 4K television. I already have it on Bluray. But like, even with GitS where I already had the Bluray but got the 4K version, even though I don't have a 4K television, I may find myself upgrading at some point. And even at that, I can still tell a difference even with the television I have now.
