Disney animation and related media

Before clicking on the video: "Donald DUCK...eating CHICKEN wings...well, I wonder if they'll even address it."

After clicking the video: "Oh...CAULIFLOWER wings. Well, they completely side-stepped THAT."

I am glad to see that Disney still has some sort of traditional animation department. It's not much, but this does look pretty okay. I wonder if the TV side of things handled this or if this is from something else.

Also, I appreciate the Disney-themed hot sauces.

Also loved the 'who?'

Donald Duck has 100% chowed down on Christmas turkey before. Also, Once Upon a Studio had some quality animation considering Disney no longer hires cinema-quality animators full time and couldn't even be bothered to do any 2D animation for that Rescue Rangers abomination.

That was undone by a series of time reversals. On the final December 25th of that short, Donald, his nephews, and the rest of their family (plus Daisy), all sat down at the dinner table with the turkey (still living and now joining them as a guest at the table) to eat a Christmas ham instead.

Let's take a trip back to 1991 with some authentic original footage of the voice recording sessions of Darkwing Duck!

Sigh. This isn't new grumbling, but can we just be done with live-action remakes for a while? Went to see the new LOTR sidestory (went in with low expectations, was pleasantly surprised, BTW) and got hit with teasers for no fewer than three - Snow White, Lilo & Stitch, and How To Train Your Dragon (yeah, Dreamworks not Disney, but what was wrong with the cartoon?). Whether they're stuff I'm interested in or not, the remakes just keep being...not good. Hell, my sibling is an unabashed Disney fan, and the best review of any of them has been 'meh'.

Do I have a list of things that I think would look incredible in modern live action/realistic CG? Absolutely! Do I think that modern trends and styles in writing and editing would (as much I dislike using the term for fandoms) ruin what I enjoyed about the originals? Also absolutely!

I actually enjoyed Mufasa a lot but I see how less expressive the characters are with the realistic CGI.

Like, no one is going to draw fanart of the cast that way.

Hell, is Disney even moving any merchandise with these remakes? I remember when the live-action 101 Dalmatians came out in the '90s, you couldn't go to a store without tripping over cartoon dalmatians plastered over almost every product you can imagine. They knew that the real reason the movie was getting made (besides cashing in on the public's interest in John Hughes movies with slapstick antics; see also Flubber) was to revive interest in the IP, and that even if it succeeded, cartoon puppies sell better than realistic ones. And then of course there was the TV series, which was also animated and based off the original movie's character designs.

I don't recall anything remotely equivalent happening with any of these new movies.

Not to mention that the idea of Cruella de Vil being played by Glenn Close was just fascinating enough to get most people's attention.
