Disney animation and related media

Before clicking on the video: "Donald DUCK...eating CHICKEN wings...well, I wonder if they'll even address it."

After clicking the video: "Oh...CAULIFLOWER wings. Well, they completely side-stepped THAT."

I am glad to see that Disney still has some sort of traditional animation department. It's not much, but this does look pretty okay. I wonder if the TV side of things handled this or if this is from something else.

Also, I appreciate the Disney-themed hot sauces.

Powerline Shock Sauce!

Also loved the 'who?'

Donald Duck has 100% chowed down on Christmas turkey before. Also, Once Upon a Studio had some quality animation considering Disney no longer hires cinema-quality animators full time and couldn't even be bothered to do any 2D animation for that Rescue Rangers abomination.

That was undone by a series of time reversals. On the final December 25th of that short, Donald, his nephews, and the rest of their family (plus Daisy), all sat down at the dinner table with the turkey (still living and now joining them as a guest at the table) to eat a Christmas ham instead.

Let's take a trip back to 1991 with some authentic original footage of the voice recording sessions of Darkwing Duck!

Sigh. This isn't new grumbling, but can we just be done with live-action remakes for a while? Went to see the new LOTR sidestory (went in with low expectations, was pleasantly surprised, BTW) and got hit with teasers for no fewer than three - Snow White, Lilo & Stitch, and How To Train Your Dragon (yeah, Dreamworks not Disney, but what was wrong with the cartoon?). Whether they're stuff I'm interested in or not, the remakes just keep being...not good. Hell, my sibling is an unabashed Disney fan, and the best review of any of them has been 'meh'.

Do I have a list of things that I think would look incredible in modern live action/realistic CG? Absolutely! Do I think that modern trends and styles in writing and editing would (as much I dislike using the term for fandoms) ruin what I enjoyed about the originals? Also absolutely!

I actually enjoyed Mufasa a lot but I see how less expressive the characters are with the realistic CGI.

Like, no one is going to draw fanart of the cast that way.

Hell, is Disney even moving any merchandise with these remakes? I remember when the live-action 101 Dalmatians came out in the '90s, you couldn't go to a store without tripping over cartoon dalmatians plastered over almost every product you can imagine. They knew that the real reason the movie was getting made (besides cashing in on the public's interest in John Hughes movies with slapstick antics; see also Flubber) was to revive interest in the IP, and that even if it succeeded, cartoon puppies sell better than realistic ones. And then of course there was the TV series, which was also animated and based off the original movie's character designs.

I don't recall anything remotely equivalent happening with any of these new movies.

Not to mention that the idea of Cruella de Vil being played by Glenn Close was just fascinating enough to get most people's attention.

Oh mercy, it's happening.

A Goofy Movie is getting its own commemorative documentary on Disney+, released in two more days!

Okay! I just got done watching "Not Just a Goof".

Where do I even begin? There was so much passion and information put into this.

They had a whole tub of VHS and Hi8 tapes of archive footage pulled out of storage to contribute to this. We got to see so many things behind-the-scenes from back then, from storyboard presentations to recording sessions with the actors, to general hijinks with the production crew, to live-action choreography sessions for the Powerline dance scenes, and even footage of the original movie tour from film's 1995 premiere. You even get to see rare footage of Frank Welker's recording session for Bigfoot, and watching Frank Welker do his thing is always a treat!

On top of all the vintage content, new interviews were recorded with an enormous amount of folks. Kevin Lima, Bill Farmer, Jason Marsden, Steve Moore, Brian Pimental, the list goes on. They even paid tribute to an uncountable number of YouTubers who have reviewed the movie over the years and expressed their love and adoration for the film in said reviews. There may well be a number of faces in these cameos who are familiar to those who regularly frequent the YouTube reviewer scene. They even showed footage of Khleo Thomas's Powerline dance recreation, the "After Today" and "Lester's Possum Park" fan creation videos, and the D23 panel for the movie from back in 2015.

I'm still feeling sensory and emotional overload from watching this thing that I'm struggling to find the words for it. It is a must-see, must-watch documentary. Not just for fans of the movie, or fans of Goofy, or even fans of Disney, but for fans of all animation and/or emotional storytelling in general.

Ooooo, I'll watch it later tomorrow.

There's people getting huge gift boxes with Goofy Movie items in it. Where did Disney even find boom box makers and can record cassettes? The jackets are really cool too!

Weird amount dedication for a movie that always felt like Disney wrote off as soon as it premiered and was just kinda ok.
