I recently went to the local city hall, where they were selling Filipino, Indian, Chinese and Japanese food. I got some indo-Japanese noodles, curry, naan "tortillas", and samosas. Unlike most portions in Japan, these were all massive (so I will take them home to eat, over the course of a few days). All of the Indian food was about 20 dollars (30 pounds?), so not bad for Japan.

I also got some Filipina "pork scratchings" (as we can them in the UK) and some mix to make "adobo" (so I'll need to go and get some fish and/or chicken).

(Indian-style Japanese "chicken katsu curry", showing how curry can travel all around the world. In this case, this food, arguably was created from the UK, Japan and India).

The previous day, the missus and I went to Costco and had lunch there. I had a vegetarian "Garden Burger", while she had a meat-feast pizza.

I bought the burgers separately, in the frozen aisle. They're not bad.

and unlike Chicago-style deep dish pizza we assemble the toppings in the CORRECT order.
Them's fighting words!!!
...well, I like Detroit style too, but like Chicago style better (mostly b/c there's a lot of sauce)

Aah, pizzaman. While not quite the same as from the stores, I have a somewhat easy recipe to make those. I'll post it next time I make them.

Can you tell I don't have experience w/ deep frying? I had trouble keeping the temp constant, and didn't have a deep fry thermometer. Ended up using more eggs and panko than what the recipe recommended. They're pretty good with some lemon on top, but man, that was a lot of work.

Nice! One thing that's usually advised is to put only a few things into the oil (3-5?) as too many will reduce the oil temperature quickly, causing more oil to be absorbed into the food and/or longer cooking times.

Yeah, I didn't fry too many at once, but I knew something was off when the balls were burning after a few seconds when they're supposed to go in for 3-4 minutes. Today I found out that the pot might have been an issue. I was using an aluminum stock pot to prevent oil splatter, but it's harder to maintain regular temp. A cast iron pot's supposed to be better, and I did just get an enamel one. Might try this recipe again, but not anytime soon.

This is one of the recipes I got the Dutch oven for. Main issue w/ this one is that the dough is super sticky, made it hard to manipulate. Also the recipe calls for using wax paper inside the Dutch oven but it ended up fusing to the bread, and the bottom had to be cut off. Next time I'll try without the wax paper, since my Dutch oven has the enamel coating. The bread itself is good, just a tad sweet with a bit of rye and sourdough flavor. Soft and spongy on the inside, light crust on the outside.

Please excuse the amount, as I've been saving a few week's of pics to upload (I wanted to wait for someone else to have a shot before posting the next few collections of pics).
