Gasp! Americans trying to adopt the standard in every other civilized nation?!?!?

I mean, don't feel bad: more canadians per capita smoke than the in countries where it's part of the religion, and we only got it done like 5 years ago.

She's willing to put a Republican in her cabinet if she thinks they would be good in the spot, which is more gracious than I would have been. I don't have a problem with that, on paper, assuming said cabinet member is fit for the role. Seem to be fewer and fewer Republican politicians I can say that about, though.

That's probably why Trump put in Republican CEOs instead.

She's talking about Liz Cheney, isn't she?
More likely she is just signaling collegiality, but she will probably need to figure one out.

Bonus points if you can find a Republican Senator whose replacement would be chosen by a Democratic governor.

Is that still how Senators are replaced mid-term? Are special elections only for Representatives?

It depends on the state. Most states the governor choose a Senate replacement. A few states require a special election. Remember, Senators were originally intended to represent the State, not the people.

Looks like Kentucky would have been a great choice for the operation until they changed just this year.

Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall of Kansas and Ted Budd and Thom Tills of North Carolina look like excellent picks for the cabinet.

Liz Cheney has some absolutely awful ideas for how to run the country but I don’t doubt she loves it and wants it to succeed.

Internationally if nothing else.

I wouldn’t make her Secretary of State or of Education but something with diplomacy would probably be up her alley.

Both Moran and Marshall are toilet bugs. I wouldn't trust either. Nor do I think either one has the stones to work under "the enemy".

I’m pretty sure Axaday’s thinking is more along the lines that both of those states have Democratic Governors that would pick Democratic replacements…
