If nothing else, that demonstrates that she is the better choice. The ability to take criticism and not explode or fume, but rather respond with grace and some humor.
Of course, that requires humanity, which Trump lacks.

Looks like Harris is tacking sharply to the right in these last few weeks. I don’t envy you guys this time, either it’s Trump enacting a dictatorship, or 70% of Trump’s platform enacted by more cognitively competent people. Terrifying.

She was always somewhat moderate(despite Fox News and their more fringe cousins constantly stating otherwise). It's a case of choosing the path of less harm, just like it has been since I was old enough to vote(second Clinton term, for reference), unfortunately. Some of it is trying toappeal to the people on the edges of Trump's base, the ones who aren't all in on Trump, but have been convinced that all Democrats are communists by a constant feed of right-wing media. The ones who haven't gone all-in on the cult, basically.

In 2019, GovTrack, a non-partisan organization that tracks bills in Congress, ranked Harris as the “most liberal compared to All Senators.”

Kamala Harris ran for the 2020 Dem nomination on gun confiscation, a fracking ban, offshore drilling ban, floated eliminating private insurance, decriminalizing illegal border crossings, mass amnesty, an aggressive Green New Deal facilitated by abolishing the filibuster, etc. She was never a moderate at least once she reached the national stage and that's why she's spent this entire brief campaign abandoning almost every progressive position she had and avoiding ever having to explain what changed in just a few years.

Maybe you could say she's an opportunist with no set values who thought in the 2020 primaries the path to power was the Bernie Sanders lane and in 2024 thinks the path to power is projecting a more moderate visage. Although I suppose the silver lining for more left-leaning voters is she probably doesn't mean any of her reversals and with a friendly legislative majority would go right back to her previous policy preferences.

It grates on me when an article and its headline are at odds. Look at what Kamala did to this unsuspecting political opponent? What? Oh, the guy says that part of the speech was provided for him by the same organization that provided her with her speech? Oh. Ok, sorry.

I think a large segment of the population believe that speech-writing is one of the key skills of a successful politician. They actually don't plagiarize anything, because they don't write anything.

A literal nothingburger. If this is all the GOP has, then they have less than nothing. For hug sake, why even publish this kind of drivel, CNN?

Dem Missouri Senate candidate at an outdoor gun range event hits a reporter in the arm with ricochet or metal fragment.

A KSHB 41 News reporter was hit by a metal fragment Tuesday afternoon while covering a campaign event for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce.

Reporter Ryan Gamboa was covering the event at a private residence in Holt, Missouri — about 40 miles northeast of Kansas City — Tuesday afternoon when he was struck in the arm. It was unclear if he was struck by a bullet ricochet or another type of metal fragment.

Kunce was firing an AR-15-style weapon at the time that the reporter was struck.

Kunce was among those who provided treatment to Gamboa, wrapping a bandage around his arm.

Gamboa went to be checked out at a nearby hospital after the incident. Gamboa said his injuries were minor and he was released from the hospital.

Kunce, a gun owner and Second Amendment supporter, was holding the event with former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger as part of his effort to unseat Sen. Josh Hawley (R - Missouri).

The Dems are taking the Cheney pandering a little too far.

Things happen. It's a gun range. There is an inherent risk in being there.
hell, last time I qualified I ended up with hot ejected brass managing to get by my eye pro and lodging next to my left eye. Was an interesting moment and a quite unusual scar.

You know how children sound when they're making up bogus excuses not to do a chore? They're tired, or they have homework, or they're feeling sick, or their tummy hurts, or whatever. The excuses keep changing, but the end result is the same, because none of those excuses were ever their real reason. Their real reason is just "I don't wanna".

"Undecided" voters who don't want to vote for Kamala remind me of that behaviour when they toss out their fake reasons. She's not progressive enough, even though Trump is far worse, or she too progressive, even though she's really not. She supports Israel too much, even though Trump is far worse, or she doesn't support Israel enough, which is simply not true. She's a former prosecutor so she'll trample over civil rights, even though Trump is far worse, or she doesn't stand for law and order even though she's a former prosecutor. Maybe they're upset about inflation, even though Trump's tariffs would make that worse. Or maybe they "just don't know enough about her", as if they couldn't easily correct that in one afternoon.

It all sounds to me like someone who's just making up bogus reasons rather than giving the real ones. Just once, I'd like these weaselly little shits to give their real reasons. The only time I believe them is when they start ranting about immigration or traditional values, because ranting about immigration is a dog-whistle for disliking brown people, and ranting about traditional values is a dog-whistle for guys who think a woman's place is in the kitchen.

Is it always the same guy?

Where does he find his undecideds? I have had the impression that they were a myth. It is October 23 and Trump is on the ballot. If they haven't decided who to vote for, they aren't going to vote.

I'm not worried that these "undecideds" won't vote. I'm worried that they already planned to vote for Trump and just don't want to admit it, even anonymously.

At this point I can see there being a lot of traditional Republicans who are disenchanted enough with him to either just stay home or at least leave that portion blank. And we need that to be the case. More specifically, we need that number to include a significant number of the people who actually did vote for him in 2016.

The conservative backlash to this ad is going to help Harris. I don't know how much, but it should help. My first reaction to the ad was an unsettling feeling because I am a man and it cast its men as controlling. It just doesn't feel good to see that, I'm not saying it isn't a reality. But if there was any doubt, conservative pundits dashed it. Nope! A woman who loves her man is going to vote with him! Oh, yikes.

The funny thing is that in the ad, we don't see any women lying. It is implied. But if you have just a little sensitivity, you can see that the characters lied because they were afraid. And once again the conservative pundits show us who they are, but not having the sensitivity to see that all it takes to prevent that lie is to let your wife be a whole person.
