Hero Mashers Returns! (Hasbro Mixmashers)

Since Playmates went back to their tried and true playbook of TMNT product styles, they re-introduced “Mix-N-Match” figures. Obviously, Hasbro is following their lead again and reintroducing their own take: Mixmashers!
Slightly smaller than the old Hero Mashers, but seemingly sporting more points of connection and more articulation, Amazon Australia has already posted images of the new line. Featuring stalwarts Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, and Optimus Primal (with Starscream featured as a co-sell), all seem to be sporting their evergreen looks. Prime and Megatron are more premium offerings with more extra parts to combine with. No word yet on if Hasbro will be releasing other brands under this segment.
Look for this to show up en masse next spring.

Question is, which line gets the Power Rangers?

As with Hero Mashers, I feel like the idea could be interesting if they didn't look like that.

Interesting that Megatron comes with a jetpack clearly meant for Optimus's "Arc Armor" while Optimus comes with Super Megatron's arm cannon.

They seem fun enough, especially when mixed with other items from other properties, but nothing I feel like I need. Like Coffehorse said, if these were styled so that you could mix and match "generics" that fit in stylistically with Generations figures, I'd be all over it, but the more child-friendly look isn't really for me.

Is this aesthetic even what children want, or is it just a signal for parents who want to pick something at a glance and don't want to slow down to read an age label?

Frankly, this kind of play pattern is mainly geared more towards kindergartners, kids who are young enough to not care about aesthetics beyond looking "fun".

That way, you have to buy both so you can "mix" and match their parts properly.

Kind of like a semi-forced play pattern.

Figured this was the best place for this information, but retailer listings have started to crop up for Swapticons. Retailing for $7.99-ish, according to JtPrime, they will be little 2 packs where the two robots merge into some sort of vehicle mode. No images, yet.
Transformers Toys Swapticons Ravage and Shadow Panther Action Figures, 5+

  • INTRODUCING SWAPTICONS: Transformers
  • Swapticons toys are fidgety fun mini action figures that twist to combine together into unique alt modes!
  • TWIST INTO BEAST MODE: Press the figures’ heads together and twist to combine them into panther beast mode! Untwist to separate them
  • COMBINE WITH OTHER SWAPTICONS TOYS: The fidget toy fun doesn’t stop there! Ravage and Shadow Panther action figures can be combined with any Swapticons figure (sold separately, subject to availability)
  • IMAGINATION POSSIBILITIES: With additional Swapticons sets, kids can combine 2 favorite bots and imagine a super-powered alt mode, or create wacky match-ups between Autobots and Decepticons
  • GIFTS FOR KIDS 5 AND UP: Transformers toys like Swapticons figures make a great gift for boys and girls who love fidget toys, robot toys, and toy cars
JtPrime's comment:
It’s not, they’re really tiny. (Re: Referring to prior comment of the $7.99 price being a placeholder)

Anyways basically they’re two packs. Each figure has individual bot modes and they combine into 1 alt mode. You can mix and match to make abominations if you please. Here’s the description for one. (See above)

Links and news story here:

In addition to the listed sets, leaked listings from earlier in the year have indicated several additional sets (most of which are likely retools of ones referenced above)-
Starscream/Thundercracker
Cheetor/Tigatron (repaint/retool of Ravage/Shadow Panther)
Nemesis Prime/Clench (repaint/retool of Optimus Prime/Ultra Magnus)
Plus a "Wild Jungle Mission 5 pack" which I'd place even money on using the Dinobots and Cats molds in new colors. Without price, it's hard to say if it is a set of 5 parts, or 5 two packs given the price point (5 pairs would be about $40 in a big set)
