With every word, Lucidas infuriated him more. Omega snapped.

”This place will impact the bay of The Old Publishing District! It will Die! You, will Die! EVERYONE on this isolated island will Die! EVERYONE ON THE ground, will Die!

EB! WAIT!”

Though he was as eager as his friend (if not more), they had no idea what Lucidas had up his sleeves in terms of defences. He wasn’t about to let the rabbitman charge into danger alone.

That was his job!

High Intellectual Lucidas didn't attempt to stop EB but instead asked, "Why would we be falling? What could possibly cause that?"

This conversation was becoming frustrating, but Patch knew that getting angry wasn't the right response. The leaders of YPNR spoke the language of logic and rationality.

"An act of sabotage," she called out to Lucidas. "Will that suffice as an answer to your question?"

Managing to catch the running rabbitman, the Omega Knight held him back and hissed urgently, in a low enough tone that onky he would hear.

”EB, hold it! I know we have no time, I know we have to get past this and deal with their stupidity! But right now, we have no clue what this Lucidas has up his sleeves. He stands here, clueless as to what’s going on, yet the have a forcefield of some kind up.

‘Do not rush in and get yourself hurt. To much is at stake my friend.”

Standing, he simply stared up at the floating at Lucidas, and waited.

While Kage may have been right to stop EB's charge... Destron felt more so for his safety than to avoid, conflict - the storm slick exterior of the vessel's hull while not exceptionably treacherous... could with an ill-timed footfall or an unforeseen change in incline, have dramatic and catastrophic consequences. That all being considered, Dee began to push forward again... she would soon have the answer to whether this would prove wise.

High Intellectual Lucidas stroked his chin for a moment, then replied to Patch, "It all depends. Can you tell me who committed this act of sabotage?"

Patch

"No, I cannot," Patch stated matter-of-factly. "However, I understand that someone in your position would be hesitant to let us roam freely and unsupervised. So if you'll allow me, consider this: if what we say is true, then everyone on board the vessel is at risk, and we believe we are able to stop that from happening. If what we say is false, then we could be on our way to do who-knows-what, maybe even commit an act of sabotage ourselves. Either way, the clear choice for you is to escort us, is it not?"

Omegas fists clenched as Lucidas continued to, to him, prevaricate on their presence here. On the verge of yelled at the man, he was thus caught off guard when Patch spoke up. And spoke up with a level of diplomacy that he was currently very much incapable of.

High Intellectual Lucidas smiled, seemed to type something on his wrist, and said, "Very well. You'll be properly escorted. Since Elizilah is with you, I'll let her leverage the manual control. Due to the sabotage, we haven't been able to reactivate automatic flight controls. Until then, whoever is on the manual controls has to stay there like a pilot or bus driver. But this quite the opportunity.

And to think, I simply went outside to clear my head. I might not have had the pleasure of meeting Sue'zhan. Or more formally, Citizen 19640124.

Welcome home."

Nearing the point of attempting to smash his way through the dome, EB slowly lowered his fists as Patchy was able to talk the floaty man down.
At Lucidas' last comment, he stepped in front of Sue'zhan, obstructing his view of her.

Lucidas seemed to agree with her proposition. That was good.

What was less good is that he seemed to know exactly who Sue'zhan was, which made Patch second-guess how much he really knew. But at least this would remove an obstacle to solving the main problem - the entire structure crashing into the Bay. After that was taken care of, things would likely get dicey again.

As far as EB could tell, Lucidas was being sincere. Smug, perhaps, but not insincere.

Though it should be Insight instead of Perception, I already applied the correct stat.

Keeping his hands under his cape, so as to hide the fact that he was squeezing his fists tight in an attempt to Not screw up this tentative moment of diplomacy by punching Lucidas in the face!

Omega was conflicted, sortof.

He was far from believing that Lucidas was as eloquently unaware as he made out, since that seemed impossible. More that he was at least entertaining the very faint possibility that he wasn’t a total evil scientific despot. So he kept these thoughts hidden within his armour and simply moved over to stand with the others.

”We should go. Change the direction of YPNR.”

High Intellectual Lucidas made a gesture and something akin to a forcefield blocked rainfall in a pathway leading to the dome with the override controls. He motioned for Elizilah to walk forward. After she entered, the rain returned. Lucidas then said, "Monday, assist me."

Monday March suddenly appeared in the air in front of him. "Ah, good. I was unsure whether you could hear me out here. Since I don't know how long it will take to reset the autopilot, please be sure to check on Elizilah periodically. This group requested escorts and I'd hate to disappoint." Just then, familiar mechanical stomps could be heard approaching.

The Omega Knight jaw tightened at the familiar sound, with his mind inevitably being drawn back to ‘incident’ at The Ret. Its ‘malfunctioning’ police droids, the trapped civilians and Mayor Nemo. Ever since then suspicions had bounced around the back of his head regarding exactly how the OPDPD seemingly got hold of such advanced tech, considering the state of things. That and his own theories regarding ‘Why’ the droids had gone rogue: I.e. a potential assassination attempt on Nemo’s life… Both had led him to suspect a YPNR shaped hand in all of it.

‘’Now Lucidas was acting shady (or maybe just pompous), Kages paranoia and fear for his Allie’s spiked. He (again) almost went to draw Retribution, except this time unclenching such a tightly squeezed fist sent a slight, but significant, jolt of pain up his arm.

I’m gonna kill him!
Kage…?
I’m gonna kill…!
Kage?
This is a trap!
You don’t know that.
High Luci calling for a droid escort?
Doesn’t mean…
He could have just called guards.
They do use security droids and have yet to…
Correspondent 251 tried to send in the droids. Not to mention trying to isolate Sue’zhan…
There is that. However…
‘However what?!
You have no Actual proof that Luci has betrayed us as of yet. Plus, need I remind you that We are, in their eyes, very much uninvited guests here. We’ve only remained here thus far thanks to Judeens trust and Elizalah kindness. Both of which you jeapordise and may well put in danger, should you draw that blade.
But he…!
But, nothing! Your emotions are getting in the way!
our…?
Don’t you try semantics with me. You’re only arguing with yourself!

‘Good! Now pipe down and let me do the job the Omega Knight. Cool. Calm. Logical. Ready. For. Anythibg! But not stupid enough to put your friends in harms way!
Alright. But I don’t trust any of this.
Natuarally. However, it’s not just your neck on the line here. Its everybodies.

The Omega heaved a deep sigh and tried not to slip into a combat stance.

Yet.

High Intellectual Lucidas calmly said, "All of you will be escorted to Correspondent 251 since I know most of you can't have been processed for citizenship already. Please climb back down the ladder in single file. Standing out in the rain can't be pleasant for most of you."

He was right about that, at least.

Patch knew that the High Intellectual was not their ally. The current situation was more of a cease-fire than an alliance, to allow the greater priority to be resolved. At least with Elizilah handling the course correction, it was as good as done. But the arrival of Monday and the droids was a negative factor in the calculus of their eventual resistance. The situation was not working in their favor. Unless... perhaps meeting Correspondent 251 would be an opportunity to find out more about what was going on?

It could work to their advantage, or it could be more dangerous than she knew. She glanced at Sue'zhan, who she felt would know best what level of danger they were in.

(The dice roller I bookmarked is down. Had to find a new one.)

Destron pushed forward, the storm was not letting up, however, she had not yet made it directly beneath Lucidas. She watched from below trying to guess if his shield would cast a dry shadow... or would there be a more noticeable stream of water dripping down from the 'peak' of the underside of his dome of magic. She could not tell from her original position, of course, she knew this question was just a distraction to keep her mind from calling her sword to hand... but one does what one must.

Patch couldn't get a read on Sue'zhan. Meanwhile, High Intellectual Lucidas spotted Dee and said, "That's far enough, Viknadian. Pushing your luck would be unwise...if unsurprising."
