I haven't really been paying attention, have they already done a normal GaoGaiGar in this line, or are they starting with Genesic GGG straight out of the gate?

For those paying attention, this went up at 8 PM JST (6 AM EST) for the paid Bump of Chicken fan club members ("Be There" is the paid option, there is a Free option). You could order 1 per order (things like the acrylic stand and T-shirt didn't have the same limitation). Figure took about 14 minutes to sell out. Cost was 7,000 yen. Fan Club was 6,000 yen annually or 500 yen monthly. Sold out before it opens to non-paid fan club members (on the 17th I believe). Likely won't be more unless they do a second run like they did Sonic Blue Bumble.

I'm going to try to fall back asleep as my body woke up at 3:30 AM (wanted it to be 5:30) to get this.

Yup, that's what a Japanese chum who joined the membership just told me. There might be a chance to get them later on. Regardless, I'm not that interested in the toy, but I wouldn't mind a t-shirt if it was in XX-XXXL size (about X-XXL size in the UK/US).

I just found some old, but still interesting videos about the history of Japanese Transformers. They're not bad (except for the lack of British involvement with the TFs, such as Simon Furman, Geoff Senior and the other fine folks at Marvel UK, etc) and might be worth a look.

(Note, the thumbnail for the first video has a potentially NSFW acronym, although the video content itself seemed fine when I watched it. Regardless, I've popped it behind spiller tags as due diligence)

And, if you want to watch several videos about Japanese TFs, there's always "The Basics" series.

These remind me of the original McDonald's transforming "Changeables" toys.

Also, this isn't the first time Evangelion has crossed-over into transforming toys in Japan.

i mean i know you made this thread but not sure why you're posting about something that has nothing to do with transformers at all????
Transformers have been at McDonald's, and Optimus Prime was an Evangelion once, so...

I hate Eva, but I kinda want these becuase they remind me of Changables.

Same!

Not as big a fan of Eva as I used to be, but those push an amusing nostalgia button for the old McDonalds toys.

That said, I'm not sure how I would feel about Evangelion Happy Meal toys. (I know these aren't, but still...)
