Alright, so an update for you all about uncle bruno.

He's not left the hospital since he was admitted. They did move him from where he was (CHUM in downtown montreal to cite la sante in laval.) to closer to his home. He was awake the other day, and he fell out of bed trying to go to the bathroom. Now he's currently in a coma, and the doctor confirms his brain is bleeding again. He might make it to dinner, he might make it to thanksgiving... but we're going to be planning a funeral by christmas.

I'm sorry. It's rough having to watch someone you care about slipping away like that.

And done. He left us at about 7.30 last night. My aunt is kinda hurt, because he seemed stable, so she went home to get a shower and a meal that didn't come wrapped in paper, consequently she missed him passing.

At least the uncertainty is over. At least the suffering is over.

My condolences Wonko.

As you say, though, at least now the recovery (won't say healing, but at least there'll be closure) can begin.

So yeah, life is not good for me right now.

I'm settling into my new home, but unfortunately, some of the local neighbor children are proving to be little hellions. They've been making a game out of banging on my front door in the early evenings, and have recently escalated to banging on my back door and shining lights through my windows. I've called 911 about this THREE TIMES, and the police have done nothing beyond inspect the damage to my front door and say that they'll increase patrols in my neighborhood.

I plan on buying security cameras. I plan on getting as many deterrents as possible. A part of me wants to go further, but I fear that if I do, I'll end up in jail. I'm a nervous wreck and losing sleep over this bullshit, and I don't know what to do.

No one should feel unsafe in their own home, and for the first time in my life, that's exactly how I feel.

Old enough to know better, but still kids. So you'll need to tread carefully.

Get cameras. Get their faces. Give the police something solid to work with. In the meantime, use your phone and get some video of these incidents. Make sure you're on record audibly warning them to hug off. Bonus points if you get their faces in the video. It could spare you the expense and hassle of buying security cameras.

I can't imagine the police won't do something with a record like that. This may be a low priority for them to investigate, but I doubt it'll be a low priority to make some arrests if they have some suspects handed to them on a silver platter.

Cameras are a good idea, but the plan for now is to work up to it and put up lights. If those don't discourage them, then I'll see about cameras.

My neighbor across the street killed himself yesterday. I have no idea why. I saw him the day before playing with his grand daughter in their driveway. Now I am kicking myself for not saying hello then.

It's been a bad year and it just gets worse.
2 days ago, my step daughter, Linda, was checking a flat tire near her house in West Palm Beach. Someone struck and killed her and drove off. She was 35.

I'm here in Florida with my wife who is so broken I don't know if she'll ever be back together. Her sons, Linda's brothers, are here and they're a wreck. Her husband is a walking zombie.

i don't know what to do, guys. There's nothing that can be fixed, nothing can be done. I spoke with the police. It happened at 10:30pm, there are no cameras in the area. They've already given up. Any media that could have helped identify someone never hit because it's election season and they're a mile from Trump's golden jive palace. The cops have already given up.

how does jive like this happen? how much pain does a family have to endure before God says its enough?

In between crying jags, all my wife wants to talk about is finding "this guy". We're going to go to the police station and demand the report on Monday. I spoke with a detective the first day we were here. He gave it to me straight that its not going to be solved without a hail mary.
I tried telling this to my wife but she didn't want to hear it.

We're going to go out tomorrow to find the place it happened. Less than 12 miles from her house.

what do I do? how do i get her through this? is there a way through this? i don't know that there is.

I have no frame of reference to give advice. "Be there for her" is the easy fall back, but you're doing that already.

Staring at the screen wondering what more I can say. Sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine.
The only thing I can think of is if there's some sort of informational pic or article, we can help spread it through social media? It's a long shot, but maybe there were eye witnesses who will come forward when they realize she was killed.

Maybe you could try reaching out to local news stations and papers to spread the story? As you said, election season but it might be worth it to try again after election day.

Oh, that's a great thought: take the story to local and regional news outlets. Pleading often doesn't work on organizations, but SHAME does.

Maybe try canvasing the area, looking for anyone with cameras pointed at the road. This car has to have some visible damage to it. Any cars driving in that area that night with cosmetic damage would be a lead for the police to follow up on.

It might be too soon for this, but it might also help to look into grief counseling for your family.
