Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Other than the usual MCU-style "undercut serious stuff with pratfalls" issues, it's a good episode, even if Luna herself is relegated to comic relief supporting character.

I don't know why Disney thinks the Streisand Effect doesn't apply to them...this may end up the most-watched episode of the entire series, but they won't be able to claim the ratings because it'll all be piracy.

I didn’t even know season 2 was out. I checked some articles and Moon Girl has been canceled too? Aw man :(

Saw the controversial ep. Must agree that Luna is barely in it. She didn't even suit up as Moon Giri, boo!

Also, I remember the team from the slumber party and it was that... non binary person who I thought would be the point of focus. I didn't know the captain was Trans at all. Wouldn't the rival team mother focus on the more obvious non binary person first?

Btw that 20 Keys enemy device is pretty scary. I'd do so much more with a portable pocket dimension than just using it as an escape room type. Original villain, I'm sure, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in action, using the keys to trap heroes.

Season 2 hasn't been released yet, the decision to NOT release this episode got attention and chaotic good piracy.

Coach Karen probably doesn't care so much about nonbinary as long as the kid has the right genitals.

Wait, I got season 2 already on Disney Plus. Is it because it's Asia?

Date is listed at Feb 2024 but I just didn't check cuz I don't hear news about it (until the cut ep controversy).

There's also some science related shorts.

Yeah, all of those episodes were available months ago in the US too. The official numbering closed ranks around the dropped episode, I guess. That, or the S2 we saw was written as the back half of S1, a really common thing on streaming.

Well, the final episode aired today. It was a good one. I was tearing up a little by the end.

Shame that it's already over. But, at least it got a chance to wrap up. Not every show gets that chance. I'll miss it though. The show had style.

I watched several eps of s2.

I rather like sassy Beyonder and it would be funny to see that version in a comic. Though he's a bit of Impossible Man in the. Molecule Man looks weird with four arms.

The PTSD was scary for a little kid like Lunella. The two other Tomatoes are lesbians? There was no fuss over this ep but the trans ep was pulled?

Pretty sure there's a Lady Bullseye in the comics but how about Quickwhip?

Love Kid Kree! Would be awesome if he was a regular character.

That Wakanda lady and robot fighting ep was the worst! What a horrible lady, realizing that Lunella was hurting from the disapproval but doing it anyway. Lunella was pushed to be a diamond. Felt like the PTSD eps too.

That Mythic whatever guy wasn't a real performer, right? Beyonder getting his feelings hurt is weird since he's an adult and wouldn't really need validation from a child (not when there's cosmic beings out there).

Oh, I want to see Moon Dinosaur and Devil Girl return.

The sidekick pets ep was weeeeird. Who's Rodney? Is that a mix of Falcon and War Machine? Redwing is definitely Falcon's friend. Aragon who? Toothgnasher is from Thor for sure.

Side thing but, yes, while Moon Girl is great, Devil Dinosaur really is pushed to the background. Hope he gets enough exercise.

I watched part of the first new ep (ended up skipping most of it) and the second, and haven't really felt compelled to continue. I'd thought the whole "grounded from being a superhero" impending cliche was prevented at the end of S2E14, but nope.

Actually, no, not as far as I can tell. She might be partially based on one of the female Whiplashes or maybe someone else, but I'm pretty sure she's just a new character made for the show. They started doing more of that as the show went on.
Who's Rodney? Is that a mix of Falcon and War Machine?
Yeah, I'm guessing there's some weird rights situation surrounding Sam Wilson/Falcon/Captain America. Maybe they could only use him in certain ways while they were making a big blockbuster movie with him in it? Sometimes these character rights things can be tricky. It's weird that he showed up in the show a few times, but only in "dream sequences". But, yeah, in the comics, Redwing is partners with Sam Wilson. I'm not entirely sure what was going on behind the scenes, there.
Aragon who?
Black Knight and Valkyrie's pegasus.
Beyonder getting his feelings hurt is weird since he's an adult and wouldn't really need validation from a child (not when there's cosmic beings out there).
Well...not exactly. The Beyonder is actually a "child" of his race. He isn't fully "mature" when compared to others of his species.
It's a little weird. But, he's basically a kid trying to pretend to be a grown up.

I doubt the Moon Girl Beyonder has any particular connection to the "half of a Cosmic Cube" original Beyonder. Sounds like the comics have retconned his origins a few times since the original revelation that he and Molecule Man were halves of a failed Cosmic Cube.

Never heard of Beyonder as a child of his race. I recall he was a cosmic cube but not Molecule Man too. Also, THANKS for the pets and villains info!

Finished s2. It ended exactly the way I wanted it to in terms of what I expected. Made me happy. Moon Girl needed to move on. They even put a cap on the only villain Moon Girl couldn't beat! That was great!

I forgot the fashionable character from s1 but I remembered the others. Other than Bluestreak, they were all female. Glad he got in tho.

Changes I should have pointed out before on s2 overall... I miss the turbines she had for flight! It gave her more character. New suit seemed too slick while S1 was more homegrown. I didn't like the switch to puppets when they were lying. It was funny at first tho. Maria Hill appearing alive throughout the season as Lunella's contact was kinda sad.

Weren't there two boys as a couple in the prom ep? And the tomatoes as lesbians? Still weird that the trans ep got pulled out then.

When Lunella brought out the lifeform she created for a date, I was furious. Kid Kree was right there!!!! If she wanted to say she was taken, she totally could have used Kid Kree! He wasn't ready for a relationship during the prom but he would have been down for some shenanigans. Dang it, it should have been a Kid Kree ep! But the myth was admittedly pretty cool.

Captain Samerica can't be around while Maria Hill is still alive, right? And if real Fury is in space permanently, any Fury around is a Skrull? Didn't that Skrull die too?

Moon Girl is not in the MCU, she lives in a universe that is similar in the large scale things but divergent in a lot of others. As Devil Girl put it, "We live in a multiverse!" Even if Moon Girl shows up in a live action movie, it won't be exactly the version from the cartoon. If you want a simple divergence point, this is a reality where the Beyonder took an interest in Lunella, and so manipulated events to be more favorable to her development. Alternately, Lunella herself led to some of the changes, butterfly-effect style (e.g. having to keep an eye on things heating up in the LES kept Maria Hill away from the events surrounding her MCU death). The series kicked off with pulling Devil Dinosaur out of another dimension, so there's going to be divergences.

Reminds me of the new Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man cartoon. It started development as "part of the MCU" and then somewhere in the creation process they realized that would be far too cumbersome (likely in both directions) and the result is a show that makes specific references to the events of multiple early MCU films but all the Spider-man stuff happens very different.

-ZacWilliam, Marvel doesn't really do "Continuity Families" but if they did both those cartoons would be MCU Adjacent.

Well, in my head, the Moon Girl show COULD be MCU canon if her adventures happened before Maria Hill died. But her dreaming about Captain Samerica doesn't work because Hill would have been dead by then... ooooor she got recruited between the end of Falcon and Winter Soldier show (when Sam got to be Cap) and before Secret Invasion show.

But I loooove the idea that Moon Girl keeps Maria alive by keeping her in LES, but only if Lunella knows Maria's future and consciously tries to save her.

Forgot to add, s2 didn't wrap up the evil garage sale person. Even the final villain was looking for a weapons cache. Who is this villain who leaves weapons for villains-to-be to find?

Great show. I'm glad it got to have a real ending.

I loved how much fun they animators and storyboard artists seem to be having with expressions and other fun things like turning into Muppets.

I do hope the unaired episode gets released officially suing Pride month or something.

The Muppets were funny at first but I wasn't into them by the third time it appeared. Devil Dino didn't turn into one, right? Would have been cute if he tried to lie and turned into a Muppet, even if no one understood what he was saying, haha

Moon Girl reached the near 50 ep mark. That's not so bad, for a series, right? Would love it if they did a movie, with Moon Girl helping fight an global threat (with Kid Kree).

Side thing but I was looking for a season 2 song to beat my absolute favorite 'Neon City' from s1 Slumber Party. Nothing stood out tho.

Side side thing but I got a little giddy when I realized it was Mister Negative as her villain near the end. I loved him in PS5 Spider-Man 2 (which I played first before 1, so I liked the long haired prison look better) so was excited. While it was creative that they portrayed him as a 'crazy rich Asian', I was still a bit let down that Moon Girl beat him. With junk. Haha.
