From TFW2005 user Adjective, we have a small, blurry look at a new set of figures from TakaraTomy. It appears to be large, fully transformable Optimus Prime and Megatron figures along with a set of six smaller toys that transform between robotic beast / individual robot / combiner limb that attach to the arms or legs of Optimus and Megatron.

The limb bots look to be a giraffe, elephant, tyrannosaur, triceratops, wolf, and spinosaur.

Interesting. Need to see more images to make a real judgement, but they look awful blocky in these images.

I'd be More interested if the large torso bots were new characters like the limbs. I understand why they're not, it would just be cooler if they were.

But I do like the quirky concept and all the new Energy Beasts.

-ZacWilliam, very interested to see the youtube anime.

I am super interested to see some more details on these. Love the fact that Megatron's limbs are dinos. I do wish there were an even eight animals so that Megatron and Optimus could each have their own full set.

This has my attention. I wonder, are the Beasts actual limbs, or power-ups/weapons? Much more interested in the Beasts than Optimus or Megatron at the moment, so I wonder how well they work as stand-alone figures?

Hard to tell from the pics, but I get the impression they kind of wrap around the existing forearms or shins to power up the limb instead of being a full-on arm or leg in themselves.

On closer look, I wonder if the smaller bots will be more of a "split apart and rebuild" style transformation like the Armorizers. Honestly, that wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me because that would increase the likelihood that they'd be compatible with figures other than this particular Optimus and Megatron.

. . . . But Hasbro couldn't make frikken Power Ranger zords work. uh huh.
I want to see more, but these look cool and if they've got the articulation I like in my figures, I'll grab em.

Hopefully they'll do more characters in this line if Optimus and Megs sell well enough.

The problem with PR wasn't that Hasbro couldn't... it's that they didn't want to. Once Goldner died the regime at Hasbro just didn't care.

From Lord Ginrai at TFW2005:

The series is called “Wild King”.

Official announcement and preorders may drop next week.

All items are April releases, expect for WKB-05 and 06, which are releasing in May.

They’re called Energy Masters and Energy Beasts.

Optimus and Megatron MSRP is ¥4,950, Slightly more expensive than Deluxe class.

The beasts are ¥2,750.

There will be an accompanying anime on YouTube, premiering in March, with a monthly new episode.

The lineup is:

Wildoking sets – ¥7,700 (a clever 3-way portmanteau of ‘wild’, ‘docking’, and ‘king’)

-WKS-01 Optimus Prime & Rightoll

-WKS-02 Megatron & Captain Vulca

Energy Masters – ¥4,750

-WKM-01 Energy Master Optimus Prime

-WKM-02 Emergy Master Megatron

Energy Beasts – ¥2,750

-WKB-01 Energy Beast Rightol (Giraffe)

-WKB-02 Energy Beast Hydrophant (Elephant)

-WKB-03 Energy Beast Captain Vulca (T-Rex)

-WKB-04 Energy Beast Reefback (Triceratops)

-WKB-05 Energy Beast Ignite Bite (Wolf or Lion?)

-WKB-06 Energy Beast Sbilichuan(?) (Spinosaurus)

So, smaller than I may have though if the main "Energy Master" bots are approximately deluxe sized (or slightly larger).

From the smaller image, I thought the 'power up' modes featured new hats for the main bots (Optimus Maximus and Unicron for Prime and Megs respectively), but disappointingly I see from the larger one it's just their weapons pegged to their backs and pointed up.

It is definitely their weapons rather than the partner bots, but it does look like some sort of head augmentation to me. With the camera angle in those images, if it were just the weapons pegged on their backs, you'd expect them to be offset relative to the head. But in those images, it definitely looks like at least parts of the weapons are attached to the heads.
