Nobody has the intention to invade Ukraine

Not sure how you're getting that from France questioning Trump blaming Ukraine for the war?

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Cause the other option is to call out trump for his bullshit: which will turn them into economic targets. They're trying to split the difference: they had to make a statement, but made one that doesn't directly confront trump.

Did we ever discuss here how scummy and tankie-compromised The Onion turned out to be on the Ukraine issue?

Under a banner image of a Ukrainian apartment building blasted open by a Russian missile, they offer "jokes" such as:

Q: What constitutes a war crime?
A: Being photographed doing regular war things.
Q: Doesn’t the concept of war crimes only perpetuate the lie of civilized war, leading to even more hostilities and even more death? A: Oh, jive, well, hopefully not.

This was published in the days immediately following the first news reports of corpses lining the streets after the Bucha Massacre.

Rather incendiary article, but wanted to show my source:

Some potential leaks in what "deals" Trump was trying to make, and there's reference to the New York Times reporting the exact same thing from a different person.

On Tuesday, Michael McFaul, former U.S. ambassador to Russia, posted on X (based on conversations he’d had with officials attending the Munich Security Conference):
Trump’s team allegedly has offered Putin (1) Ukrainian territory, (2) no NATO membership for Ukraine, (3) no US soldiers in Ukraine, (4) the withdrawal of US soldiers from Europe, including from frontline states, and (5) sanctions relief. Putin’s return offer—nothing.
It also points out another reason for Trump to go after Zelensky besides the recent ego-bruising after everyone rejected his claim that Ukraine started it: the leaked tapes revealing Trump had tried to use him against Hunter Biden, related to how that whole mess started.

Europe should call him on the bluff. Russia is a paper tiger and Trump's approval is dropping fast. Negotiations without one of the primary parties aren't negotiations.....

Yep.

Russia can’t even handle Ukraine much less a United Europe.

China (once it takes Taiwan) probably will pull support from Russia too.

It was never a negotiation: it was legitimization. Russia will look like it's cooperating internationally while trump and putin carve up ukraine and make ridiculous demands of them. Trump will give russia everything it wants (the land, preventing nato membership, forcing ukraining election and I'm sure a mile long list of other capitulations.), and trump gets to say to his base "look! I made peace! I did it! We made a GREAT DEAL!" to try to look good.

And it won't ******* work.

Europe already knows trump is putins puppet, ukraine will never honour an agreement without them being at the table in the first place, nor will they stop fighting. The sad part is: even if ukraine manages to push russia back past the 2014 borders (and on a long enough time line, they do even with only Europe's help.): the US will never vote for ukraine membership with trumps administration. Depending on how successful trumps coup is: ukraine could very well be in for DECADES of having to defend against russia.

Not decades. Only until both Trump and Putin kick the bucket.

Ironbite-Putin's probably got another decade in power while Trump's lifetime can be measured in months.

NATO needs to kick us out starting yesterday.
I mean, any post-Trump president, if there ever is one, would need to do massive amounts of diplomatic repair to intentional relations and alliances. “West Germany after WWII” levels of rapprochement and apologising.

Obscene.

The German ministers [Göring and Ribbentrop] were pitiless. They literally hunted Dr. Hácha and M. Chvalkovsky round the table on which the documents were lying, thrusting them continually before them, pushing pens into their hands, incessantly repeating that if they continued in their refusal, half of Prague would lie in ruins from bombing within two hours, and that this would be only the beginning. Hundreds of bombers were waiting the order to take off, and they would receive that order at six in the morning if the signatures were not forthcoming"..... ......Hácha suffered a heart attack induced by Göring's threat to bomb the capital and by four o'clock he contacted Prague, effectively "signing Czechoslovakia away" to Germany
