It's hard to start a revolution now to unseat Putin... it's even harder if the entire population only sees and hears what Putin wants. I don't know about you but I'd rather not have a North Korea Mk II as large as the US and with working nuclear capacity that can reach the US. (And ignoring the people that are still stuck there, know better, and hate Putin as much as we disliked Trump). Cutting off their internet completely on our side is only doing what Putin wants because then no one can dispute his words.
The flip side to that is: modern russians have had enough luxury that they more than likely will not endure a drop to that level of deprivation, regardless of the brainwashing.
Note I said -completely- cut off the internet, which physically disconnecting(or pulling all the backbones) will do. Blocking Steam doesn't stop the flow of actual information, while blocking everything just means you're putting up the Great Firewall of Russia from your side instead of theirs. Leaving Putin's narrative unchallenged just makes it that much harder for the Russian citizens on our side to do anything to turn their fellows. And ultimately it won't do anything about the bots as they're all outsourced. What I'm hearing from the Infosec side is the reason they seem quiet right now is that they're targeting India currently, trying to bring them in on Putin's side.
Russia owns our two main political parties, so of course the UK isn’t bothering with sanctions.

It's literally the only play Putin knows how to run.
Even if they manage to take over the country: the entire ******* world will hate them going forward. This was a complete non starter and putin doesn't seem to understand or care.
Minus the 25% of the population of the US that believes Trump is the second coming, that the Democrats are all Communist, and that wear a mask to protect others somehow violates their constitutional rights, anyway.
To be fair for balance, you can add a load of the DSA-type Hipster Left to that 25%.
