[OOC] STOMP Remembrance Project

This is a huge bit of growth for Static. With all the campaigns I've been apart of where I was lucky if it lasted more than 3 sessions, I'm so glad I got to see Static go from where he started to where he wound up.

I'm finally getting to play Night Cap in a campaign again, and he hasn't grown at all. We just wrapped a delivery job, and we didn't have Static or Scarlet around to recognize that look in his eyes when he saw the shinies we were carrying...

I remember being very spooked by where this disembodied voice situation was going... but I honestly can't remember any of the number of ideas that were going through mine and Maple's heads at the time...

I just knew that Maple does not like ponies being trapped and she would be the last one to leave if the others couldn't figure out how to save whoever this was. Mamma trauma is an mf'er

I enjoyed thinking of the visual of Maple shrinking like a balloon letting out air... except with giggles instead of *inappropriate for radio* toot noises

also Maple is over the moon right now because she made Misty laugh. I absolutely adored Patch's willingness to go along with the antics of my goofus horse

Night Cap found that the new camera was very similar to Static Signal's current camera in options...and in size. It was perhaps a little lighter. Slightly. As he dutifully followed Maplejack, the group saw the foals waiting impatiently as the teachers tried to keep them calm. "Gosh, that must be heavy," one of them said as they saw Night Cap approach. "Woooow, you're not much bigger than me,"

Before I got to the rest of the sentence I thought that second foal was talking about Night Cap's muscles.

yeah it does fit, without the rest of the context lol... poor guy, having to hide his super buffness for his civilian persona must be hard

getting to call back to the robbery and the collapse of the big fossil dinosaur during this tour was fun, I love it when a game runs long enough that you can have continuity to the setting as well as the characters.

I liked this little scene with Twinkle Glitter.

Now you say that Zam, but lets be real, there's a lot of people out there in the real world giving their kids both really generic names.. and silly celebrity or pop-culture names...

so Twinkle Glitter might be as common as Sarah Jane... or Sue Anne...

But as for the sequence itself. I loved playing Maple as the level headed one .. this is her element, she wasn't going to let this get out of hand, distract from the progression of the tour... or honestly get mad that the twins had inadvertently caused this kid to damage the keep.

because those are kind of all valid ways it could have gone. the twins certainly seemed primed for some sort of reprimand or something. But I kinda felt like Maple would see this kids enthusiasm and determination to find herself a dinosaur... and reward that instead of squashing it.

if a kid is trying to learn something the worst thing I think you can do is focus on their mistakes. it can just shut them right off. Now obviously, the reward she gives Twinkle Glitter is basically priority supervision under Wo/ander and maybe that was a little bit of a :sneaky: side-eye at the twins - but mostly I think she means it to be mutually beneficial since they've already developed a connection.

just a lot of fun right here.

This arc got the benefit of being primarily about museum work without having villains interrupting or actually being the focus but offscreen. The field trip was a field trip. I mean, sure, it's quietly a sequel to Maplejack's friendship lesson with Amaretto Swirl but I got to draw everyone else in. This was one of the most free flowing and loose arcs on my end as far as planning. Guess that's why I was willing to give Twinkle Glitter a name instead of going "the foal gives their name" to weasel out of it.

I guess that's similar but rather different to Marguerite over in Mey Hem. I tried to weasel out of it but gave her too much of a personality. At least the stalling gave me time to name her after margarine.

I was glad to see Plateau Precious again.

It remains my headcanon that Night Cap is from Nightmare Heights and just never mentioned it. It works on too many levels.

You can reread any of his interactions with the town and it totally works.

He's not a visitor who didn't want to help a town in need. He's the local slacker who didn't want to do his chores.

"Dang it karen, if I wanted to join the volunteer firefighters I would have done it one the last 7 times you asked me, no bending the wheel on your kid brother's bike in the 4th grade doesn't mean I owe you one... I'm very flammable."

In the "things not used" column, I'm glad I backed off from the plan to use Sunny Swamp more after he was initially stated to be from there. Even initially planned for Sunny Swamp to be a portion of the Snow Shark nightmare before that fell apart.

we seemed to mostly all find ways of either avoiding the dnd trope of "going home" in one way or another or at least subverting expectations
