Can't wallow in depression if you're too wired to sit still. I mean, you'll just be depressed faster, but at least you're moving, and that's what matters to the corporate oligarchs.

It's not really a joke, except in the gallows laughter that...everything is these days, but it's not worth its own thread and it's more broadly applicable than any of the existing ones.
Zillionaires are just entirely alien to me. These people have more money than is generally comprehensible, and what do they do with it? Sit on the metaphorical pile and jerk it to thoughts of even more, no matter how many other people they have to screw over to do it; instead of using even a fraction of it to make a name for themselves and help people. Your Bozos, your Melons, they could make themselves famous by, f'rex, funding the repair and update of infrastructure in entire states and/or small countries. But are they interested in that - no!

Why would they be? It won't get them more money. They only public acclaim they want is based entirely on how many zeroes they have on their net worth statement.
I like to think I could leave a legacy other than huge numbers both in my bank account and of other peoples' lives ruined. But maybe that's the cosmic joke here, and - and as I said in the other P&R thread - I just. Don't. Get. It.
They're not human. Just keep telling yourself that. The reason that they're alien to you is that that's basically what they are. Why do you think conspiracy theories about them being lizard people, or whatever, are so popular? Because they know that, on some level—psychologically, spiritually, however you want to measure it—the rich and powerful are something fundamentally inhuman.
