Not intended but I noticed it after I typed it.

I actually stumbled across this and sound points seem to be made. I think the most telling thing is that Flynn will no longer be answering questions about Sonic on the Bumblekast. I'm not a Flynn hater or anything but he definitely has his strengths and weakness. And preferences.

This also had an eye opener about the script of Sonic Frontiers. I remember when the game first came out, bilingual speakers were saying the translation into Japanese seemed weird/incorrect. But this was contrasted by everyone (bilingual or not) scratching their head at the wording of Amy's big dialogue moment with Sonic in English speaking copies. It's interesting that not only is the romance more overt in the Japanese, it also mirrored Tails' "Am I a burden to you?" discussion.

Sonic 3 is now the highest grossing film of the series so far. This despite playing in the fewest theaters for some reason. It is a solid success.

It earned its money without playing dirty, sure the Lion King prequel got more money, but its heading to Disney plus and there it will stop earning any money, while Sonic will contuine to make money as it will likely flip through various Streaming platforms and there will be exictment for Sonic 4

Sonic 3 has surpassed Warcraft to become the third highest grossing videogame movie. From here, it just comes down to if it passes Detective Pikachu for the second place spot.

What's the number 1 top grossing video game movie? The CGI Mario?

Anyhow, just saw it. This had the least amount of screen time for the non Robotnik humans. It's good. But seems not enough of Sonic. His 'what's in my heart' thing isn't much of a character arc to me.

My sister won't let me 6 year old niece, who's a Sonic fan, watch the movie. I guess it's because of Maria's fate. And I guess because this movie has the most violence in it? The action was pretty awesome and this really does feel more like an action movie than a comedy aimed for kids.

Did the old army guy die? I wasn't sure. There were no fatalities in the other two Sonic movies, right? But this had a confirmed human fatality and we see how that person actually died, geez.

I didn't play Sonic Adventure 2 and the Archie comics didn't do a one for one adaptation. The Gotta Go Fast Sonic cartoon also had adaptation but... I don't recall much of it either.

There's suppose to be a bio lizard on the satellite? And... Chao being a major thing? And Chaos as blob bosses? Chao got referenced in the theme park but no reference to the Chaos blobs or lizard thing?

Cool but I think this is the first time I saw Jim Carrey as not playing himself but as an actual Robotnik. That's cool.

Did he say he quit acting again? If he's gone, was the ending attack just automatic contingency plans? Or Agent Stone turning evil?

Didn't play Shadow the game but loved how cool he was doing the motorcycle and gun start fight. That was stylish.

Really good action movie. Could have used more heart (since it's for kids) but I guess it's hard to emotionally resonate when the main emotional thing is suppose to be recovering from someone murdering your sister / close friend or father figure (for kids anyway).

Also, was Shadow powered up really pink ish?

Was Chaos an active thing in Sonic Adventure 2 or was it just random small Chaos like enemies? As far as the Bio Lizard... I never got that far in SA2 :D As far as Chao, I think they were only ever a side thing that didn't factor into the main story.

At this point I think Jim is just reveling in the Robotnik role. There were interviews asking him about coming back for this after saying he was retired and he said something like He bought too much and needed money, but I'm thinking he honestly just has fun with this. I'm sure he's still open to keep playing Eggman for now as long as they let him ham it up.

Wow, and this is the toned-down version, too.

Jim Carrey is definitely loving this. He's a good actor who got typecast into a career that was lucrative for a while but never gave him enough chances to show his full range. And then he faded out and went kinda crazy. And then this gig came along and he realized there was some actually interesting material to play with.

I've said it before, but Robotnik can be serious when Bowser can't, and funny when Ganon can't, and he can switch modes mid sentence. Something about him just lets him do both. But it means he requires an actor with that range, and the instincts for when to switch modes. For an actor who can do that and wants to do that, he's actually a great role.

Along that, Jim in his youth never really wanted to play the same character twice; that's why there are so few sequels; but current Jim kinda laments that he never got the chance to just "sit" with a character and let them grow and breathe. It seems to be why there are rumors of him wanting to do another Mask and Grinch movie since those were roles he enjoyed and feel like more can be done with them. With Robotnik it hits multiple things: It makes his kids happy (one of the reasons he took the role in the first place), as you say its a role that allows him to explore both his youthful wacky excentric side that we've not seen much of in moodern times; but also have real depth to, its a role that fully lets him embrace both sides of himself. 3. Its a built in franchise which means that as long as they want him, its a character he can come back to now that revisiting characters is something he wants to do.

Robotnik is a role that hits a lot of his current desires ontop of just something he clearly enjoys doing. Every interview you can see how passionate he is.

There's info saying that Sonic 3 could have been much more violent? I mean, for sure Maria being caught in an explosion is a much kinder death than her getting gunned down like in the game but what else did they tone down? Confirmation that the soldier died? I already thought the final death was pretty horrific as it was done in a comedic tone.

The Chao weren't in movies 1 and 2, right? So they're a human world invention here?

Is the Knuckles series worth watching, for the reference?
