I always wanted a big crossover movie starring the casts of TNG, DS9, and Voyager all teaming up together for a big ensemble movie. The Enterprise, the Defiant, and Voyager all facing off against a common adversary, one a big enough deal to bring all three crews together, and giving us new interactions between members of each cast that we've never gotten to see before.
Honestly,
Generations 4 (the project that became
Nemesis), really missed out in this regard, as one could easily have had a plot arc where Shinzon launches a plot to destroy not Earth (as the Romulan military hardliners who backed him were expecting), but
Bajor (to hurt Picard more, as he had been an advocate for them back around TNG S5).
Apparently, though, the screenwriter for
Nemesis didn't even once glance at DS9, and wasn't even aware of Worf's arc through the latter half of that series.
And this is where I shake my head, because if you know that you're making the last feature film outing for a while (as Paramount was at the time unwilling to, as one source put it, "pay Patrick Stewart X-Men money"), you may as well pull out
all the stops. Unfortunately, Berman was not a risk-taker by nature. His formulas
worked for a good while, it can't be denied, but by 2002 he was arguably trying too hard to capture 1994's highs....
