That's a big box window. And they're not even labeling it Gamer Edition anymore?
It's got a super cell shady/cartoony look, which at a Deluxe size just doesn't look great right after SS '86 Prime dropped.
SS' new packaging is kind of stripped down. Figures are no longer getting a number either. And no backdrops. Seems like they're just consolidating all the branding into just "Studio Series" with a small logo for whatever the source media is.
Well, that's disappointing.
The budget for SS has clearly been cut below the level required to make functional toys. That Prime looks dire.
Honestly it kinda looks like a budget knockoff of SS86 Prime.
Just because it doesn't have transparent windows, doesn't mean its not a functional toy.
I want to say something about how rough this looks, but my Classics Deluxe Prime is staring at me and I just can't. I have to remember how insanely low the bar used to be.
I just noticed, I think the truck has a trailer hitch. A very elevated trailer hitch. This might be on the small side of Deluxes.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. If this were a Core or something, it'd be pretty decent, but for a Deluxe, this is pretty bad. I mean, we've had several really good Optimi lately, so it's not huge loss, but I'm just wondering who decided that the world needed this instead of just doing a cell-shaded repaint of an existing mold?
I'd even understand if it was a case of "wanted to get our heavy hitters into as many size classes as possible," but there's currently a great Deluxe Optimus Prime on the shleves right now.

As a toy, it looks pretty OK. Not great, but I'm pretty sure my kid would play with it. Doesn't seem like it would appeal much to collectors, and seems fairly redundant after a year where we got '86 Prime and Legacy Deluxe Prime, among others. There's a lot of Prime on shelves right now.
That's a great way to look at this. Where as SS86 is clearly targeted to fans, I think this one is targeted to the Kids who still want to play with an Optimus Prime but who's parents don't want to drop $90.
With my collector's glasses though, this one holds no interest.

That Optimus doesn't look too bad. Robot mode is okay, although the truck mode is pretty bad. Either way, a relatively easy skip.
Are they bringing back plastic panel windows? One shot of Sentinel in box seems to have one. Plus it would help keep box integrity with these fairly large windows.

It kinda looks like what I would expect if the Transformers R.E.D. [Robot Enhanced Design] toyline designers got permission to make a transforming toy.
By Primus that thing is rough. They really "devastated" the design...
Did we already know it was going to be a Deluxe? I thought they'd just put this color scheme on the Earthrise mold (with no trailer) as a Voyager.
Prime being a Deluxe goes against the idea of doing the Devastation cast to scale, doesn't it?
I'm still assuming the Devastation grunt enemies are going to be redecos of the appropriate existing molds, and this definitely won't be to scale with those.

This looks, ok-ish, to me thou looking at it, kind of makes me wonder if its partly mistransformed, still, I'm leaning on pass, much like I did with 86 OP, also, I'm not really a fan of the cell shading, it just seems rather terrible, I kind of like my paint jobs to be a balance between animation and realisic when it comes to TFs based upon animation or comic desgins and I just wasn't feeling the 86 OP figure, I know a lot of people are saying its great but it wasn't really screaming, get as the Earthrise mold is about the best OP figure around based upon G1 directly and had the extra edition of being able to equip weaponizer bots or other TF weapons
I don't see anything that doesn't match the back of the box. That truck mode is transformed correctly. Somehow.
