The direct:
Big things FOR ME:
Dragon Quest 1+2 HDRemake- Eh. I know it has its fans, but I also can't shake the feeling SquareEnix is leaning on this "lower cost" method a bit too heavily.
Raidu- Caught my eye. Some interesting mechanics and story
Shadow Labrynth- I still think this started as something else and got Pac-Man put in later. The Pac Man (HA! Called him Puck! His original name!) elements seem out of place with the larger scope of the game, but I'm sucker for Metroidvanias so I'll keep an eye on it.
Patapon 1+2 and Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots- Still shocked to see Playstation properties on the console. They aren't top tier Playstation names, but definitely have strong connections to the platform. Hot Shots looks like they're channeling some of the old school Mario Golf vibes so I'm eager to see how it turns out
Eternal Life of Goldman- Saw this previewed in video form a while back, and stuck on my PS wishlist. Got some DKCxDucktales vibes that I'm watching. Could be a sleeper hit if the level design is as on point as the art, music and mechanics seem to be.
Gradius Origins- Another classic arcade game collection is always welcome. And for all Konami's faults, they've done a good job with the retro game collections, especially with the inclusion of region variants. The new Salamander 3 is a neat addition, though, sadly, the Rebirth game remains MIA it seems.
Rift of the Necrodancer- Looks nifty, but I'm so white I don't have rhythm so I'll have to enjoy it from afar. Same with the Rhythm Fever entry
Sunset Overdrive- Has demo out, looks good.
Lou's Lagoon- I'm watching this. Could be a nice little platformer, or another resource gatherer like Slime Rancher.
High on Life- Got good remarks on other platforms, but the visual loss is noticable. Surprised they bothered at this stage with Switch 2 on deck.
SAGA Frontier 2 Remaster- Am i crazy, or didn't they already do a rerelease of this game? Glad it's not another "2.5D HD" game, but I'm not sure the methods are doing the art many favors in some sections.
Comfy games- Story of seasons, Tomagochi, Cursed Cafe, TomoDachi, "comfy games" seemingly remain a stable for the platform. Which is so full of them I can't even muster interest in any of them, must less one from Nintendo. Seriously, Tomodachi is their big finale? WTF? And Level 5's Fantasy Life i looks to have PAINFUL performance issues.
Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends ZA- Still on deck for later this year. They showed Samus's sexy new red and black suit. I'm still convinced that they will be cross platform titles and will look and perform VASTLY better on the Switch 2. Their inclusion here is more to confirm Switch 1 players will still be able to play them. Even on the Switch 1, Metroid is still looking fantastic.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion- Probably among the biggest surprises, it's a tag team belt scroller developed by the same crew who've done TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Streets of Rage 4. Not only that, but they are clearly channelling that Capcom fighter nostalgia in the animations. The 15 fighters comment is fascinating, but given two of the characters shown were just variations of Nova...not sure how different many will be. Top of my wishlist!
A solid direct, and more than anything, I think it shows a solid commitment to the Switch 1 platform. Most of the games seem for this summer, so I expect a fall Direct later for Christmas titles.
