He never had a lane. He's garbage at everything and always has been. He's proof that rich people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce, and should instead be subject to a 100% inheritance tax.

I meant his dad, the emerald mine owner whose fortune Elon inherited. Or whatever the verb is for when your dad is rich enough that you can live off and invest his money while he's still alive.

Fred Trump also belongs on the list.

Yea, quite often those telling people to 'pull themselves up by their bootstraps' are the ones who never had to do that.(the term itself was originally used to mock those who now use it, given that the very act they describe isn't physically possible)

I... think it might have started as advice on getting your feet unstuck from the mud, actually. I've learned to be careful of "folk etymologies" for figures of speech since I discovered that "drinking the Kool-Aid" predates Jonestown by multiple decades.

Just going by how the phrase was used in the 19th century. The way it's used now has kind of flipped. The actual origins of the phrase aren't truly known, though it was first seen in print as far back as the 1830's

So like how "Blood is thicker than water" tends to get reversed - originally I believe it was "The blood of fellowship is thicker than the water of the womb" meaning true friends over hostile family, where the modern usage tends to be the opposite.

FB friend:
Elon Musk's reputation in 2020: "Innovator, Visionary, founder of Space-X and Tesla".

Elon Musk's reputation in 2024: "World's biggest right-wing social media influencer".

Leaving aside the question of whether his 2020 reputation was undeserved, that is really quite a remarkable pivot.

Good. Chaos WITHIN the Trump camp can help keep things from going too far. Hopefully the infighting lasts for at least two years, preferably four.

Space Wanker is trying to interfere with British politics now, attempting (futilely) to get the government to trigger an early general election, four months after the last one…
That might not be a bad idea, honestly. Only four months after voting out the previous ruling party in a landslide, and zero months after seeing proof that the current ruling party is exactly the same, maybe they'll take a hint and vote for someone else for a damn change.
