The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

I'm eagerly awaiting the day when people realize that the stocks in Musk's companies are highly overrated and the bulk of his wealth quickly evaporates because of it. Heck, Twitter may have finally hit the tipping point(I would have thought it would have happened a year ago, but looks like competition is finally stealing users away en masse). We shall see how long Tesla holds out. It's so overvalued it's insane. SpaceX is a harder one to crack. The Musk containment squad is still doing a decent job there keeping him in check, though I do think they are starting to falter.

And remember, his "net worth" is mostly the combined speculated value of his companies. As such, it—and his status as the world's wealthiest man—can instantly poof out of existence if people decide one or more of those companies is actually worthless.

Musk has been trying to buy Wikipedia for a while now, because it's an open information source that he doesn't control. They keep telling him to go pound sand.

Even a lot of their "please donate" messages lately have started with "we're not for sale" and other similar means of tell him, and any possible others, to hug off as nicely as they can.

If I create a platform that exists just to criticize Musk do you think we could trick him into buying it?

Wikipedia actually has enough money saved up to keep the lights on for like a decade or something like that; I have no earthly idea what the point of the huge obnoxious fundraising messages is since as a non-profit they're legally not allowed to do anything with their excess money BUT hoard it.

Like I said, a lot of them seem to be reminders that they can't be bought, but if you want to give them lots of money; they'll happily take donations.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

That's not strictly true: non profits are required to use at least some of that capital to invest in itself. So, training, infrastructure, human capital, and the like.

Maybe if we tell musk that if he donates like a billion to wikipedia, he'll own it. He seems dumb enough to fall for that.

The tech bros DESPERATELY want intelligent people to actually build their products, but also DESPERATELY do not want to pay american wages to get them. They're keeping the wages as low as they can by relying on the h-1b visas, threatening the people they bring in with sending them back home, and forcing the industries reliance on it by funding the people that want to destroy american public education.

So they want those jobs filled, just not with americans: because americans are too expensive. Ol' musky said it himself: "if you need a school, you've already lost".

So the right-right wants the tech-right to lower their standards and hire Billy Bob over Vijay even though Vijay is more qualified? Isn't that their idea of affirmative action?

Hah, the Right-Right (or more accurately, the Nativist Right) remind me of the Lexit* crowd – a worldview that everything would be fine if workers from Poland, Belgium, Finland (etc) were chucked out and replaced with unqualified native locals.

* left-wing pro-Brexit people (who are mostly also pro-Russia).

Laura Loomer having a broken clock moment, which is apparently the only thing that can make a conservative actually lose status on Musk's Xitter.

After Musk said legal immigration was necessary to bring in “the top ~0.1% of engineering talent,” Loomer noted his electric car company Tesla has used H-1B visas to bring in some workers earning roughly $70,000 per year. “Nobody can afford to live off of $70,000 a year in today’s America. Stop crying about declining birth rates when you want us to live like a bunch of welfare queens,” she wrote.

Loomer separately called Musk “a stage 5 clinger who over stayed his welcome at Mar a Lago in an effort to become Trump’s side piece and be the point man for all of his accomplices in big Tech to slither in to Mar a Lago,” Loomer added.

Liberals who dislike Musk were surprised to find themselves taking Loomer’s side. “Okay, I’m agreeing with Laura Loomer & Ann Coulter. I need to just go lie down for a minute,” posted one X user. (Coulter posted Thursday, “American workers can leave a company. Imported H1B workers can’t.”)

Loomer wrote on Thursday that her account verification was taken away, her subscriptions were deactivated, and she no longer has X Premium despite having paid for it. X Premium is a way that users are able to monetize their accounts.

“My voice has been stifled and my reach as a journalist has been restricted because I disagree with the owner of X over an original Trump policy,” Loomer tells Rolling Stone. “We either have free speech for all, or free speech for nobody.”
