Hate to be the one to break this to you, but guess what?
We don't get a choice anymore.
We had one and boy did we collectively blow that.
And now we get all the fun of watching this man destroy the institutions he considers an enemy. Considering we voted in a convicted felon, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the systematic dismantling of the FBI would be high on his priority list.
That means that we are going to be vastly more vulnerable to terrorist strikes.

Plus, a large scale terrorist action on US soil would be both a profit making exercise for trumps donors and start a foreign war to distract everyone and a great excuse to invoke martial law and put the final knife into american democracy and usher in the american empire.

Not really, there are roughly equal numbers of liberal and conservative provinces right now. Assuming the power structures would be transferred over 1:1, the senate would get bigger, but the ratio wouldn't really change.
