Trump did get to speak in the end. The judge is going to try to present a final decision by Jan 31.

Yeah, the judge said he could speak if he could abide by the rules everyone had to follow. Trumps lawyer said "he will not do that" and trump threw himself in a rambling, nonsensical, political diatribe.

And engoron let him. Anyone else would have been slapped with contempt of court charges, but trump got to speak.

Reportedly there was also a bomb threat called in on the judge's house the same morning. Gee, I wonder what cult of nutjobs could've done that.

Or hamas militants sneaking across the mexican border, or the vanguard of the latest caravan coming to invade!

I was just imagining Engoron silently adding a zero to the end of the penalty amount for each minute Trump spent talking.

Reports are saying another one of his lawyers dropped his cases. No official reason has been given, but knowing his track record of not paying people......

He'll only pay if they win, and they literally cannot win his cases. He can't bully and outlast the US federal government.

You don't think? He's already gotten away with violating every single gag order he's ever been put under and ranting out of turn in court. We can keep pretending the judges aren't being either bribed or intimidated into letting him do whatever he wants, but I'll believe it when a verdict actually comes in.

Yup, but let's break it down just a little bit:

-Trump won in a landslide of just over 50% of the vote... which was lower than they expected.

-31% of the voters said that even 1 successful indictment would prevent them for voting for trump in the primary. Even if that number is overblown, that's still a lot of republicans whom will walk away after even 1 guilty verdict.

-11% of the voter stated that if it broke down to a trump/biden race, they will not vote for trump.

And finally, there was a lot of states in the last election that went for trump by less than 1 percentage point. Some of the margins in 2016 were razor ******* thin to begin with, and trump has been shedding general good will and republican voters for almost a decade now.

Trump will lose, and we know he's going to lose because he's already making "election was rigged" noises.

FB friend:
It says so much about Trump's rampant stupidity that his official defense in his NY corporate fraud case is that his financial disclosures were prepared ineptly, but when given a chance to speak in court, he declared that those same disclosures were "perfect".

And it says so much about the corruption of the American legal system that we still can't be entirely confident that he will be convicted or punished.

Here's a great thread about the second E. Jean Carrol trial that's beginning soon. Judge even threatened to kick Trump out of the courtroom he was being so disruptive.

However I just wanna focus on just one of Aliana Habba's opening remarks. Just one.

Habba essentially argued that because Trump raped Carrol, she's famous and is trying to milk more money out of him. Like....who makes that argument? Who?

Ironbite-I don't wanna imply something about Ms. Habba but....Jesus Christ this woman's a moron.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate for a minute.

A defense lawyer is supposed to defend their client to the best of their ability, right? Look at who her client is. This might be the best that any lawyer can do to defend Trump.

I've often wondered if she wasn't deliberately trying to sabotage trump. A patriot taking out a threat, in the same vein as a soldier throwing themselves on a grenade. I mean, she's a lawyer, right? You need to have at least two braincells to rub together to be a lawyer, she can't possibly be this stupid, this incompetent, this incapable and still be a lawyer, right?

Nah fam, she's ******* stupid. I don't know who she fucked to get her license, but here we are. Everything she's done, and doing, is to suck up to trump and consequently the hard right talking heads so she can set up a career as a fox new liar after trump goes to jail.

She's just doing such a god awful job that sometimes she actually does the right thing for the justice system and society: but it's purely coincidental.
