Either way, both a comic accurate exclusive and an exclusive capsule Leader likely have different budgets for tooling than a general release retail Leader.

Liege Maximo's feet in the Age of the Primes image look suspiciously similar to the Skullitron/Steelbane/Crimson Flame mold. Hopefully not, I can't say I'd be particularly happy with a deluxe. I wasn't expecting G2 comics eldritch-horror-huge, but not small.

Maybe he shares parts with some currently unrevealed Studio Series Voyager or Leader class Guardian Knight? Or it's just the artist pulling random stuff to cobble together placeholder art? I dunno, I was just really hoping for a Liege Maximo with shelf presence.
I'm sure it's as much a tease of things to come as Titans Return Hot Rod's knees being the same as Cyclonus.

I think you may be overthinking things a tad.
Probably. And it wouldn’t be the first time!
Rodimus looks to be between core and the smallest deluxes of late. He threw me off when I saw what he looked like. Fortunately I can replace that one with the Kingdoms one.
Eh, I’d still peg him closer to Core, if not a bit smaller given some of the oddities of depth and position.

I fully expect Liege Maximo to be a leader class figure. Hasbro knows he’s probably one of the biggest “deals”, besides Alpha Trion, of this whole group. I think the design share was just “common reference point”. Many of the 13 have that pseudo knight look, which was used for TLK’s Dragon guys.

We can't really trust that line up to be 100% accurate seeing as they have Power Master Star Convoy, and a non-centaur Onyx.

Is he a big deal, though? Until the 13, his biggest claim to fame was a one page spread with no set-up at the end of a comic series that sold so badly it got canceled after 12 issues. Even then, he no longer even has his biggest hook (being the progenitor of the Decepticons) because they gave that to the guy named after Megatron, which is why they turned him into robot-Loki for so long.

Really? Most, if not all of these characters aren't that well-known to many fans (especially the younger ones). Star Convoy would be the contender for "biggest deal" (either to fans who know the original Japanese character or because he basically looks like a new "Optimus Prime") IMO.

If my numerous dives into ancient ATT threads are anything to go by, lots of folks who were on there read and really liked Alignment. Not just as the long-belated epilogue to the Marvel G2 comics, not just as a bridge between said comics and Beast Wars, but as a story in its own right.

And more intrigue and buzz surrounding it was stirred when information about it got published in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, which led to even more people who hadn't read it before to seek it out (by this point, 2004, it was available to read for free in PDF form on Transforce's website).

I hate the "Optimus is the Thirteenth" thing, but if they're going to do it then using his canonically ultimate form from G1 as his "Original Thirteenth" form is spot on.

Y'know, if Star Optimus is how he was when he was one of the 13, that makes the presence of Micromaster Hot Rod with him really kinda weird.

I have no specific qualms with the design, but… it’s okay to redesign things. Classics revamped lots of character visuals, while still being reconcilable as those characters. I love the G1 Star Convoy aesthetic, but I would hope for at least a slight stylistic update for a Generations version.

Isn't that what this already was, though?

And a video below featuring redundant names ("Prima Prime"), possibly incorrect models (Powermaster Star Convoy anyone?) and the new term "Transformers bots". Hasbro at its finest!

I get major Nautica vibes from her, aside from the whole turning-into-a-nautical-vehicle part.

Be nice if that was a sign of things to come from one of my faves.

Pickup trucks are seaworthy? Anyway, like Solus now that the toy’s revealed. That's a purchase.
So a new $160 Titan price point almost guarantees we’re going to get a new diminutive Omega Supreme to battle Studio Devastator right?

that or some kind of Monkey's paw thing where we get a Devastator bigger than CW/UW.

Star Convoy does open the possibility we'll see a Titan Class Big Powered, it's not implausible given they did both Constructicons and Predacons this way.

TBH, if Hasbro had offered Selects Star Convoy a second time? I probably would have gotten it and been completely happy skipping the Titan. But at this point, the Selects is pricing around the same (or more!) than just getting the dang Titan version.

But yeah, I can see the Nautica vibes, and given how extreme we’ve seen “remolding”, it would NOT surprise me to see Solus modified into a sub-like vehicle. Maybe replacing the wheels with rudders and taking the hammer “budget” and putting into some connectable propellers?
’Cause, let’s face it, we’ve seen crazier things from this design team.

Ultimately whatever fiction they come up with is just a means to justify the toys, but the video they floated out to "launch" Age of the Primes mentions the Primes being "reawakened" in the present day for some sort of battle. So maybe present day Optimus got "reformatted" into his original Thirteen form as part of that?
