To be a little fair...

"Megatron must be stopped! No matter the cost!"
To himself. He meant he was willing to die.

"One shall stand, one shall fall!"
"Why throw away your life so recklessly?"
"That's a question you should ask yourself, Megatron!"

"You, who are without mercy, now plead for it?! I thought you were made of sterner stuff!"

In that part of the movie, Prime was willing to kill for the greater good.
Kill yes, murder no. Optimus went in assuming that they would fight to the death.
Not that there'd be a situation in which pulling the trigger would be more execution than battle.

Of course he would have fired if Megatron had charged at him, or if he noticed Megatron reaching for that gun.
But he also would have captured Megatron alive if Megatron had surrendered. The idea that he wouldn't is something I literally never heard anyone say until Bayverse fans said it to pretend their Optimus wasn't the worst by that big a margin.

Eh, I think there were plenty of people who disliked Hot Rod enough that they thought Prime should have just shot through him. That was long before Bay.

But a part me would STILL have liked to see that toy concept realized over "the original toy with more articulation but less gimmicks".

The only gimmick they cut is the motorized treads. They kept everything else Star Convoy ever did.

And the Micromaster trailer doesn't have a launcher anymore, but they gave it other features so there's no net loss there.

Yes, but scientists are currently looking for a cure for this condition. For the price of only a cup of coffee a day, you can help.

Actually, I have to be very careful in this arena as well. I love tiny little guys, so I've had to strongly resist the siren song of those third party toys that have everyone in Legends scale.

Exactly! If I was still single, I would probably have a large collection of those by now. Beyond a couple DX9 figures, though I've managed to keep it mostly Hasbro-official. Still quite a few glaring holes in my teams, though, like G1 Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (and Wheeljack, but the Prime Legion makes a good stand-in), Blurr, Kup, and Arcee, virtually all of the Beast Wars, Armada, and Energon cast, and Cyberverse and Earthspark (finger puppets do NOT count!).

(finger puppets do NOT count!).

But they can be full-sized puppets for your normal-scale figures!

Actually, it seems that Roller cannot be detached from underneath the rear of the trailer section.

Speaking of that "Tread Unit" (as Mark called it in the stream video), turns out we have ourselves another case of the early 90s online fandom passing around a mistranslation until it became widespread enough to be believed by everyone.

The name "Tread Unit" seems to have been born out of someone misinterpreting the Japanese text on the back of the original Star Convoy toy's box that referred to a "Trailer Unit", but which was talking about a slot where a Micro Trailer accessory would slide into the side of Star Convoy's base mode. According to both the original toy's instructions and the Return of Convoy story pages, what the English-speaking fandom has been calling a "Tread Unit" for all these decades is actually named "Micro Carrier".

H-nestle, after looking at more picks. The Micro Trailer as a rolling mobile artillery unit for Rodimus is cool. I mean, i’m foming around too Prime’s ‘base mode as a whole, even though it’s just Explodimus Prime. :)

Man I am a sucker for sci fi super robots. And eating my words.

Prima.
He has been awakened… welcome the first matrix bearer, Prima Prime. This voyager class highly articulated figure is ready to form his warriors of light and vanquish the darkness within any bot, creature, demon, and even apparition.
The almighty god bestowed Prima the matrix of leadership to be infused on the hilt of the mystical and beyond powerful artifact, the Star Saber sword. His courage and power will never waver, his compassion is what gives him purpose and meaning, the heart and soul of the 13 primes.

Worked on this wicked bot with the one and only Yuya san, whom has out done himself on this glorious action figure. The man has been responsible for so many great figures its always a great honor to work with such a talented designer.

The deets, alt mode is a cybertronian lunar vehicle with the ability to turn into a hover truck, not only that but the front end can also have a battering ram extension with a mount for the Star Saber sword to impale whomever opposes the magnificent warrior of light! The Saber blade can actually plug in topside to give the offroad vehicle a fin much like the fin seen on Solus Prime’s mini truck. The creation matrix can store inside Prima’s chest cavity. Colors really look stellar in person as the white grey metallic tone popped with the blue energon hits and then mixed in with the dark steel tone to makah da pizza pie dawishous

Armada Red Alert is a descendent of Prima Prime, his energon bloodline is tied to the god. By Primus, Prima has recruited the first in his warriors of light, whom shall be next?

I find it interesting that Mark explicitly cited Prima as sporting the "Creation Matrix", NOT the Matrix of Leadership.
Well, Prima did originate from the Marvel G1 comics.

The treads? They can still come off and be their own thing:

Thanks for the info! It doesn't look like the original Roller (below) to me though. It seems like only the treads detach and open up into...stuff. I would LOVE to be wrong about this though and hope that, if all folded-up, it looks like the original G1 SC Roller.

Roller flips upside down before you attach the ramps (or in the case of the new toy, the ramps unfold). That's why it looks different.

Not that any of that matters with how everyone just calls it Roller anyway.
