That is straight up Rescue Bots-styled packaging.

The newer Earthspark releases also have the white boxes, so there may be something to the idea that white box = "toy" and black box = "collectible". Oddly, I've noticed that Walmarts that have the "toy" lines don't have much collector stuff, and the ones that have "collector" lines don't have much of the toys. I'm wondering if this isn't an intentional test to compare sales from one line to another?

The collector stuff I've seen at Target and Walmart have been off in their own section either in or right next to the electronics department.

Yeah, you look at most of Hasbro lines with a “kid” and “collector” segment, they seem to be pushing more noticeable differentiation between them. Star Wars follows a similar pattern, with the “kids stuff” being orange and white, while collector stuff is in black packaging. You look at Swapticons and MixMashers and Evergreen/non-specific branded items are all white. Collector stuff is black or retro packaging themed.

I’m not sure I’ve seen the break up you are, but Walmarts can be highly variable region to region.
My feeling is that regions that see more collector stuff might not see big toy sales to begin with, so Walmart is leveraging the higher margins on collector stuff to offset lower overall sales. And that might vary brand to brand as well.

I'm not a fan. It looks so... plain. I guess it being very white makes for a nice contrast with the "collector-oriented" black Generations packaging but still...this just looks very cheap.
Yeah. I’m not a fan of Hasbro’s broader push toward “monochrome” in general. I feel like you can still “distinguish” between the segments without it being so (no pun intended…maybe) black and white. Why couldn’t CyberWorld have gotten a red with grid base with the “location color” as a burst behind the figure?

The collector stuff I've seen at Target and Walmart have been off in their own section either in or right next to the electronics department.
There’s a difference between “franchises with collector SEGMENTS” and full on “aimed to collectors” lines. Generally, cross demographic brands like Transformers or WWE or Marvel hang out in the “toy section”. But the stuff stores dump by Electronics tend to the NECA, Bandai, or ultra niche stuff that has primary appeal to collectors.

Edit:
TFW updated the news post with more images of Snarl and a couple pics of Armor Up Galvatron. Also, just in case, NO, Grimlock will NOT cost $55. That’s sourced from the Amazon UK Global Market. MSRP will still be $30 when he comes for sale from Amazon US.
