Honestly, if they're going to Chug-ify him, they might as well make him a redeco of Sideswipe.Armada Wheeljack. What a fantastic story that was with him and Hot Shot. I’d like to see an updated version of him just because.

Rycochet did a pretty cool one from Dragon Megs
Gigatron would be my most wanted from CR/RID
Him and Rail Racer, but they'd never do him in proper size.
Like, his individual components would be like commander class based on their toon appearance.

I get rising costs...and admittedly, I don't have any insight into toy industry modus operandi other than Spector's fantastic YouTube videos, but there has to be other corners that can be cut...a great example is duplication of characters like Wheelie and Spike / Daniel in such a short time frame.Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing a core class Drillbit. Like how the intial plans for Wheelie and Daniel, got priced out and we ended up with the minifigures, but they turned around and made them into the Core class stuff. Maybe the rising cost of materials, which is why cost is going up, meant they couldn't include the usual bonus figure. And considering they're planning to focus on Armada, Core Class would be a decent place to put in Minicons rather then trying to put them in with the figures.
But I do agree about the Minicon ports.
I definitely get your point, it's just that I don't know if proper is the term I'd use to describe him. He's certainly a Wheelie though, and a transforming one at that.Wheelie is a good example. The original plan got priced out and I'm sure at some point there was no plan to do a proper one, until suddenly there was.
That is why I feel he is almost certainly the Wheelie they planned for Grimlock, because he doesn't feel like a toy that was designed separately, like other core class toys. He feels more simple, like they were trying as hard as possible to get him under a specific budget.I definitely get your point, it's just that I don't know if proper is the term I'd use to describe him. Wonder what the actual cost between what we got in-pack and what the core version is. Also, I know he was in the movie, and the team was trying to give us as many characters as possible, but thinking back, Daniel wasn't even in the MOJ scene was he? That one makes even less sense to me now. I'd rather they reuse a Pit of Judgement Quint they already had designed and ready. That is why I feel he is almost certainly the Wheelie they planned for Grimlock, because he doesn't feel like a toy that was designed separately, like other core class toys.
