What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

Wasn't sure where to put this, figured it's much too political for the Metal thread over in Mayhem, so here we go.

A bunch of the sponsors include multiple right-wing gun nut companies, several of them openly MAGAt and/or Neo-Nazi. So, **** those guys.

Here's a free article with statements from the band and from Shell Shock's founder and owner sliding down the inevitable path to obscurity.
From the statement he appears to come from the 'Trump Political Statement' school of thought. I doubt he'll get any participation for his festival next year. It's a good cause, though, so this is very much a tragedy for those charities. I hope another organization steps up when this one falls.

His commitment level is pretty impressive. I wonder how it actually plays with different listeners. Are there a lot of people rolling their eyes and saying "Oh Come on, this silly thing again?"

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

It's not a silly game when the prior president (whom has never conceded the prior election.) attempted to overthrow the government, and still maintains the election was stolen and in knowingly lying. It's not a silly game when his mouthpieces whom are still in positions of power mirror his position.

It was treason then, and it's treason now: a month from the election the traitor is running in. The very fact that he running is an insult to your country and all its peoples.

You misunderstood what I was saying. We agree.

I am trying to imagine if there are people watching the show that think Mike Johnson is right to not answer the question because the question is just exceedingly dumb.

I think if I were a news show guy, I would bring these guys on and ask them that and if they don't answer I would say "Ok, well my topic tonight was really about intellectual honesty and that's really all I wanted to ask you. Thanks for coming on."

Despite the dire headline the article is about small business loan funding, which is important, but if that runs out people are not being abandoned to die. Please make it past the headlines and read the actual articles you post.

You do know who you're talking to, right?

Another one of those things. The framers were really proud of the system they invented to update our Constitution. They thought it was going to be easy. It is actually almost impossible. Without a Constitutional Amendment, it really is the truth that the Federal Government isn't supposed to have a say in an awful lot of things that we consider rights nowadays.

Kamala Harris went on The View and said cooperation/resource pooling wasn't happening on the federal level, which isn't true.

"we all need to work together to combine resources. Especially federal, state, and local resources around these kinds of disasters. And I think it's a shame that hasn't happened."

Also when asked about DeSantis' charge that Kamala has never called about any storm before as VP, she replied she's called multiple governors... during this round of storms. 😅

That same morning Biden said DeSantis is doing a great job, they'd talked, and Biden gave him his direct number.

That Kamala is only calling now because there is an election is spot on, her portraying DeSantis not talking to her on the phone as some sort of breakdown of cooperation between Florida and the feds is a lie. She doesn't seem to have any direct role in this. Still, it's petty not to take the VP's call in general and especially shortsighted when she has a decent chance of being president in a few months.

He should've just said he missed the call but got in touch with her and gave her his direct number to avoid this in the future. This didn't need to beyond that. But an article of faith in GOP politics is Chris Christie helped in part to swing 2012 to Obama by being chummy with him over Hurricane Sandy relief and making him look good. So many of them are absolutely terrified of being the next Christie or being accused of it. Sandy more than Bridgegate helped sink any chance Christie had of getting the GOP presidentail nomination and I'm sure DeSantis is actuely aware of it.

I grew up with the impression that Vice Presidents often become the next President, I guess simply because of George HW Bush. But it is more common for a VP to take over because the President died than it is for them to get elected as the successor.

It has been very interesting to watch all the weirdness of it. There seems to be a surprising handicap for Kamala in it. Donald Trump gets to run as if Kamala were responsible for everything Biden has done. He and his supporters can think of very little that Biden did right, except continuing some of his policies, so it amounts to blaming her everything that is wrong even though she was the Vice President. BUT watch what happens if Biden lets her step up and act like she is President. DeSantis says she's never done any of this and she is only nosing in to look Presidential. Cool trick, huh?

Kamala and her supporters see lots of nice things to say about the Biden administration, but Kamala can only take the small, measured credit of saying she's been proud to be working with Joe. Otherwise she'll be glory hog. And when someone asks her about a failure, she can't say "Yeah, Joe dropped the ball on that one" or she'd be a backstabber. So she can't take much of the shine and can't drop any of the stink.

Now THAT is amazing work. I live in Oklahoma. Walters is a disaster. But asking for $3.3 million to buy 55,000 Bibles from Donald Trump when 55,000 Bibles can be had for $140,000 from someone else is inspired. And that money just goes to Trump's business, right, not the campaign? It is just a $3 million gift.

And honestly I imagine there are organizations ready to give Oklahoma classrooms Bibles for free if they just had permission.

It's straight up graft. Taking public funds and shunting them to the private individual Donald Trump. Saying that only those specific Bibles offered by Trump's stooge meet the arbitrary requirements set by Walters is nothing more than naked corruption and an attempt to buy a position in a potential administration.

Seriously, how long is Walters going to be allowed to ruin education in Oklahoma?
