There's 2 pro-impeachment Republicans left in the House. If I were Democrats any agreement to help would lead to one of them becoming Speaker.

Is Byron Donalds speaker material, or are they literally just voting for him because he has "Donald" in his name?

One of the great conceits of the right-wing is the belief that if everyone were "free", then they would naturally want to do the same things right-wingers do.

This is why they view liberalism as a kind of totalitarianism. They are so incredibly close-minded that they literally cannot imagine someone actually WANTING to do any of the things liberals do or think any of the things that liberals think, so they can only assume that people who do liberal things are being coerced in some way: either through brainwashing or terrorism or outright coercion.

Let's look at a working example: diversity training in large businesses. Every right-winger, almost without exception, believes that this is some kind of "woke agenda" being forced down the throat of businesses against their will. They ignore the fact that businesses got this idea not from "woke" activists but from all the top business schools, because a workplace will obviously function better if some of the employees aren't calling other employees abominations against God. Any competent manager knows this. What right-wingers think of as a "woke agenda" is just good business.

Let's look at another example: Hollywood's recent efforts to pander more to women. At the risk of pointing out the obvious, Hollywood is a business, and women represent half of the entire population! The question is not why Hollywood is pandering to women; it's why Hollywood failed to do so before, the way it pandered to men. Again, that's not some kind of totalitarianism: that's just good business.

And finally, let's look at a third example: men who support feminism. Once again, right-wingers are so incredibly close-minded that they honestly don't believe men could possibly do this of their own accord. In their minds, he MUST be under some kind of oppression to say such things. He must be a "cuck" with no backbone, because he won't stand up to this oppression. They actually cannot wrap their minds around the concept that he actually believes what he's saying.

In their minds, if you removed the "oppression" of the left, then every man would instantly turn into Andrew Tate, every business would instantly turn into MyPillow, and every woman would instantly turn into Phyllis Schlafly.

I kinda want to see the Dems pick a candidate just to watch how much of the GOP immediately falls in against that person purely to be contrary. I'd bet at least half of them.

They won't. The game they're playing right now is pretty much perfect. Why mess that up?

Ironbite-though it would be hilarious.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

They'll keep voting and losing simply because they won't give it to democrats, and it'll stop the senate more completely than stonewalling will.

Feels like a situation that really should have some legal method to forcibly resolve, but doesn't because nobody expected anyone to be so stupid and childish to let it actually happen.

New depths all the time.

7th ballot underway, McCarthy has already lost more than he can afford to. We're going to an 8th ballot. How many times can we do this? Only the House Freedom Caucus knows.

7th vote:
Hakeem Jeffries: 212
Kevin McCarthy: 202
Byron Donalds: 19
Donald Trump: 1
Present: 1
You read that right. Apparently Matt Gaetz got bored and changed his vote to Trump.

Do it. I want to see Trump have to get up off his ass and do something while he waits for indictment.
