GUYS! GUYS! EMERGENCY! THIS EPISODE DOESN'T START WITH A FLASHBACK! THERE IS NO FLASHBACK! HOW DO WE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!? AHHHHHH

I'm sorry "What's a log doing in the forest!?" I legit love that. XD
I'll probably be the only one, but honestly the song isn't too bad. For a show like this. I don't hate this song.
I don't remember seeing them record like 80% of these scenes though.

Using her muzzle to interact with her touch screen is exactly the kind of content I'm here for.

"What's a log doing here in the forest?"

This is not wild at all, actually.

*twitcha twitch* It transcends cartoon horse universes, apparently.

"But I'm terrible at making decisions." My spirit animal.

The music in these shows is just never going to do it for me. G4 was an anomaly. My tastes are very particular and G4 didn't always do it for me either, but sometimes they'd dedicate an entire episode to Danny Elfman because they felt like it, and it was great.

No flashback. This show is still just a transparent wannabe with boring characters and a boring setting, but it is trying to improve and I respect that.

Off the top of my head, Say Goodbye to the Holiday. It's one of a few that tried to imitate Danny Elfman (Stop the Bats being another memorable one), and I personally find Starlight's voice easy on my ears. She's not squeaky.

It's a music video episode! Wait...Wild Manes has songs?

Wait, wouldn't Candy's message to us at the start count as our flash-forward? I hate to say it, but I'm not sure this episode actually breaks the flashback trend.

Is it weird to watch your own friend's streams? I wouldn't know. It just seems like it'd be weird to watch a video of someone you see everyday.

It's big, it's heavy, it's wood! It's better than bad, it's good!

Huh, these horses CAN sing. Or at least can really rock the auto-tuner.

Poor girl's allergic to herself. Must be murder during shedding season.

"Ride the waves!" Every time Bailey mentions the ocean, she gets $1. She can retire in style, at this point.

Candy, this is happening on your channel, why are you making someone else pick the winner? I mean, at least run a poll so your fans can decide. Get that sweet viewer-engagement! This is streaming 101!

Everyone's a winner, which means that no one is...

I could see this song getting stuck in my head. I'm a sucker for "spelling-the-lyrics" type songs.

So...is this the last episode of the "season"? Because that "That's a wrap" kind of makes it feel that way.

I hope there's more. I have low expectations but I will be so proud of this show if it actually becomes good. I hope these writers have enough time to get there if they can.

Flashback fail! We don't need no stinking flashbacks!

Horse crime. The worst kind of crime.

No, no, we avoided this you can't make us go back! Noooo....

We finally get to see this mythical "beach" that Bailey is always talking about.

So, they're stealing her cart to give her a day off. Awww...well-intentioned crime is the best kind of crime.

"Ocean Waves....NOICE!" Oh, Bailey, you and your constant ocean references are surfing their way right into my heart.

"I like working, working is fun. I like working, working is fun." Too real, Wild Manes. Too real.

Bailey's sacrificing the cart to her Ocean Goddess. Spirits of the Waves like macaron's too!

Logic!

This must be a VERY small town, if they've already searched everywhere.

"Splendiferous!" Someone's got a word of the day calendar.

Did she ever bother to lock the rest of her store? I have the feeling there's going to be a real robbery, soon enough.

Wow... this song sucks.

2:54 - have we met her? I don't remember meeting her.

So there are preview thumbnails for at least two more weeks of Wild Manes though uhhh hey Wild Mane staff are you SURE this is the thumbnail you want for the next episode? Have you not met the Brony fandom?

I guess streamer intros are the new flashbacks?

That's a lot of clocks. Either she REALLY wants to be sure she wakes up on time, or she's gone supervillain on us.

"Is it my birthday?" Shouldn't YOU know that?

The things some people do when they're bored at work.

Wow, 6 months....I'm not sure that's worth celebrating, but you do you.

Butterhooves. It's actually a wonder this doesn't happen more often. They actually do quite well maneuvering things with their flat, slick, ungrippable appendages

What kind of dancer leaves bananas on their own floor? That's just asking for comic mishaps. She deserves this public humiliation!

You know, since you're not streaming this, you could just...edit OUT the fails? I don't know why this isn't being presented as a option.

Candy apparently has a cursed camera in her phone. Gotta watch out for those.

A blooper reel! So editing WAS a option! Although, now she still needs something to post for her actual vlog channel. Which means she probably has to do this all over again.

Wow... this song sucks.
I think there's something here. I think the problem is that it's got too slow of a beat. If you sped it up a bit and changed the rhythm a bit, you could give this song a fun 80s "Barbie Girl" type feel. Which I think they tried going for, but they might have slowed it down to take up more time. There's a possible remix of this song that could be pretty solid.

2:54 - have we met her? I don't remember meeting her.
She was in the third episode. "Coach Tilly". The one who almost broke Cocoa's back with her training regiment.

They know exactly what they're doing. The setting is boring, the characters are boring, this song makes me want to apologize to G5's music, so they gotta do something to get the internet's attention.

Too bad we'll never get it. I don't see anyone wanting to remix this that has the talent to do so. Heck we are LONG past the days where we'd get a dozen remixes of each Pony song. Like the Movie came out in 2017. I'm STILL wishing someone made a full length version of "Ponies got the beat".

That one wasn't too bad honestly.

I very much laughed at the "What's so great about a cartoon horse" gag. XD

This is the one everyone's been waiting for.

Flashback. Whoever came up with this mechanic needs to go away.

Something actually relatable. I can't make decisions either. I need to make a whole decision matrix and figure out the optimum choice.

Please never sit like that ever again. See, that pony on the fountain is doing it better.

I will learn their names when their personalities start doing anything for me.

"Everyone" is all of three people.

What's so great? The ears, for one thing.

And there's the thumbnail.

Four people.

Holding objects with elaborate headgear instead of sticky hooves. Okay, I'm in. This show's a keeper now.

Pffft. Pony on the ferris wheel didn't even notice. That actually made me happy.

Literal squee. Do kids actually say that now?

For what it's worth, she got the entire town to join her club.

Well my mood changed quite a bit as that went on. I'm watching out of obligation and boredom, but I had some actual fun with this one.

I hope these creators realize how good their own sense of humor is. They have no budget, a lifeless setting, bland characters whose names I still don't have down yet, but they have an instinct for humor, and that's something a bigger budget wouldn't necessarily buy.

So weird thing I noticed. We watch these episodes on my Saturday Morning Stream, and since I had to skip last week, we are now a week behind on them. So when re-watching 'Mane Mistakes' there is a moment where Coco is trying to read a book and somepony trips on her. The book is Super Mare.

So either she read it and forgot all about it, or this episode takes place before the last one.

(What? It was just a placeholder and the animators didn't think that far ahead? Nah that can't be it.)

They really kept that preview image. I've heard of putting the kart BEFORE the horse, but this is the first time I've seen someone put the horse THROUGH the kart!

Don't worry, this is just how you clean a ferris wheel. You hose it off and then set it to spin dry.

The flashbacks are back! It's actually slightly nostalgic!

So...Cocoa just wants to start a generic club? These horses just need hobbies, I guess.

Yeah, those Supermare delays have gotten really bad ever since Gary Flank took over on art duties. He's a great artist, but he CANNOT keep a deadline. They've been waiting for this issue to come out ever since the Wild Manes series started!

So, there's a confirmed Comic Shop Horse, SOMEWHERE in town. I want to meet this horse someday!

Yeah, that's how I react when someone starts reading over my shoulder, too.

I would think Bailey would be more of a Aquamare gal, myself. She probably wouldn't be into the Sub-Mare-iner, though, she's a little full of herself.

Well, this is Bailey's life now. They have no way of getting her off that kart. At least she'll always have macarons with her as she surfs those waves.

Look, I agree that Supermare is stronger than Wonderhorse, but saying she's 10 times stronger might be a bit of a stretch. Unless we're talking Silver Age Supermare, then all bets are off!

Either these horses read VERY slowly, or comic books last a lot longer in this universe than in ours. Unless this is a Original Graphic Novel.

That feeling when everyone in your friend-group is super into the newest Brandon Sanderson book and you're still in the middle of Way of Kings.

Wow, that's...some headgear on the ballerina horse. A sort of modified blinder. They are getting creative with not using the hooves as much, occasionally.

This town has a sewer system. Which means they have indoor plumbing....this raises...questions that I shouldn't be asking myself.

Who threw the beach ball? I mean, Cocoa could hang out with THEM, whoever it was.

DO A BARREL ROLL! LITERALLY! Okay, why is the universe trying to keep these ponies from reading? And what was in the barrel?! Inquiring minds want to know!

"Barrel Baron, you fiend! Your plan to cut off supply routes so that horses will have to invest more heavily into long-term storage containers will never work! It's just not economically feasible in this day and age!"

She's going to end up watching the Supermare movie, isn't she?

...There's probably a very interesting story about all these comic mishaps. And we'll probably never learn how they're all connected.

Ironically, this looks like a job for Supermare!

Novel. Okay, so this is a book. Or at least a "graphic novel". Longer than normal. Glad we got that cleared up.

You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round...

*Horse still reading when the ferris wheel stops* What can you say? When you're in the zone, you're in the zone.

Mind, this collection really isn't the greatest starting point. If you really want to understand what's going on, you probably need to at least read through the "Whinny For Justice" crossover event. And probably a few issues of Night Horse. But, everyone has to start somewhere.

A book club. Oh, right Cocoa's weird random desire to start a club of any kind. THAT'S what came back around. Should've seen that coming.

There are NO "refreshments" at this book club. This is a sub-par book club!

Damn it! I thought we finally got an episode that didn't have a flashback! Damn you Wild Manes! You got my hopes up!

While I guessed the 'culprit' was they ate it all, NONSENSE they ate what was left over between making the smoothie and watching Bailey surf. What are they, part Garfield?

"Yeah I totally don't mind you putting me out of business so I make no money. "(Do they even HAVE money? I didn't see Cherry pay for that smoothie.

Oh well I guess if they want smoothies there's this Sunny pony everyone is talking about.

Please no flashback.

*sigh*

"Nothing happens in this town. Please tell us there's something new with you."

Remember when cartoons told us we could be anything? In the TYT and Wild Manes era, it's all food service gigs.

We've found the thief. That was easy.

*muzzle shove*

Multiple thieves.

I'm actually surprised they have a customer.

I won't judge. YouTube does have restaurant shift livestreams. It's a thing.

Nailed it in one try. MLP trained me to expect that to go badly.

Stall looks empty already. They actually cannot have eaten all that unless they Kirby'd it.

The animators are trying to have fun. Please learn where the shoulders and elbows actually are, because this clue searching pose is otherwise delightful.

This is a very specific kind of thing to have seen before.

"It's okay. There's no point having a job in this ghost town anyway."

This episode was nonsense, and not in a good way. Nothing matters.

But the animators are trying to put me in a good mood.

Ah, the Bailey in her natural habitat. Majestic.

I mean...it's not like you guys get paid. All the fruit being gone just means you sold out. You won!

Fruit Burglars are totally a thing. Not as common as Cookie Criminals or Steak Sneaks, but still, totally a thing.

Wow, a flashback AND a streamer intro. I guess that means they either went all out on this episode...or they were just desperate to fill up time.

That is a lot of fruit to go missing, I guess.

You don't have to ask her twice.

So...they ate all the fruit. And somehow aren't stuck in the bathroom all day from all that fiber. Okay.

Smoothies...the universal horse show constant.

The flashback...it solved NOTHING!

How does Cherry know what she's being accused of? She wasn't there when they started to accuse her!

Compliments will get you...10 to LIFE!

Hmmm...that is exactly what a thief would say, though...

"Are we the baddies?"

Horses just don't care about money. Besides, Bailey knows where they all live.

Next time: Cocoa enters a high stakes horse race in order to pay off her fruit-debt!

This show needs background ponies. I understand the budget, but just have them standing around doing nothing particularly animated. The emptiness of the world is getting in the way of the storytelling. It's not believable that their day jobs matter, and even the characters are starting to notice.

The thing is, I feel like they both have TOO MANY characters and yet not enough? I think there's like...12 of these horses running around, doing stuff. Which is too many for me to remember given their limited screen time and so-so personalities. But, not enough to make this world feel like it's actually populated.

On the other hand, there's something to be said for depicting life in a small town. Sometimes there IS nothing to do, and no one around. Sometimes days are just slow and a little dull and you have to make your own fun. I doubt it's intentional, but it's a angle they could do pretty well.
