The transforming robot characters "Transformers" (released by Takara Tomy Co., Ltd.) were released as toys in the United States in 1984 and were re-imported to Japan the following year. The series, which also released a new live-action movie, "Transformers: Beast Awakens," in 2023, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024. The new animated series "Transformers: Earth Spark" is also currently airing to rave reviews!

The "Transformers FANBOOK 2024" will be released on July 19th, and will include a bonus "Bumblebee Shining Thunder Ver.", a genuine transforming version of the popular "Transformers" character Bumblebee.

The freebie "Bumblebee Shining Thunder Ver." is a transformable toy of Bumblebee, the main character in the movie and anime. It's big, measuring 80mm in length. It can be smoothly transformed into a sports car and a robot, and it also comes with weapons. In addition, its clear, sparkly body makes it fun to display.

The magazine, supervised by Takara Tomy, features many characters from the "Transformers" series, and features a variety of games the whole family can enjoy, such as spot the difference, mazes, and puzzles. It also features manga, so even beginners to "Transformers" can enjoy it easily!

■ What is "Transformers"?

"Transformers" is a "Japanese toy-based" content created by Takara Tomy Co., Ltd., and is based on the unique concept of "Robots in disguise," that is, robots that can freely transform and hide in any and all objects around us, and it unfolds along with an epic story of super-robot lifeforms that can freely transform and fight in space.

After the toys were released in the United States in 1984, the anime and comics became huge hits, and toy sales and anime began in Japan in 1985. In 2007, a live-action movie was made in Hollywood by Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay, which became a huge hit around the world, and the seventh installment of the series, "Transformers: The Beasts Awaken," was released in August 2023.

In addition, the new 3DCG animated film "Transformers: One" is scheduled to be released simultaneously in Japan and the United States on Friday, September 20, 2024.

Currently, it has become a hugely popular character worldwide, with over 700 million units sold (as of July 2022) in over 130 countries and regions around the world.

I'm not sure if this is just wishful thinking on Wotafa's part, but he mentioned the Exkaiser line of G1 Dinobot figure character remolds in a recent review of Swoop.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that T-Spark is the new collaboration project by Takara to work with other design studios to make new toys?

Partially. T-Spark is basically the unified brand name Takara is now using for hobby products that they're aiming at older fans and collectors. Some of the lines that are included under the T-Spark branding do seem to be in collaboration with other studios and designers but I don't think it's the main focus.

(Wotafa probably mentioned the Brave reuses of the Dinobot character models because they were from the first Brave series and one of the figures that's been announced as part of the T-Spark the line, specifically the Toy Rise - or T🌀YR!SE if you wanna be weird and go by what the logo says lol - is King Exkaiser from the same anime so you know)
