Agreed. I don't mind these guys being a mish-mash of all the different iterations, but I like that they seem to be keeping close to the most iconic version of each.
Someone else made this, and I can't vouch for the accuracy of it, but here's a rough comparison based on Menasor's height:
I think it's 100% new molds, but with a lot of the engineering being cribbed from the Titan version. Reusing what worked and improving it where possible while also...
I think I've talked myself out of it. I have the CW Titan and the undersized KO, so this one is a bit surplus to requirements, especially at the total dollar figure to complete him. He definitely looks like the individual robot modes will be a bit better than the CW ones, but I don't think I...
Hard to tell from the pics, but I get the impression they kind of wrap around the existing forearms or shins to power up the limb instead of being a full-on arm or leg in themselves.
On closer look, I wonder if the smaller bots will be more of a "split apart and rebuild" style transformation...
I am super interested to see some more details on these. Love the fact that Megatron's limbs are dinos. I do wish there were an even eight animals so that Megatron and Optimus could each have their own full set.
From TFW2005 user Adjective, we have a small, blurry look at a new set of figures from TakaraTomy. It appears to be large, fully transformable Optimus Prime and Megatron figures along with a set of six smaller toys that transform between robotic beast / individual robot / combiner limb that...
Man, do I need another Devestator? I got a good deal on a used Titan class Devy a while back. I'd love to see a good side-by-side comparison, but it sounds like there will be a very small window to decide to order these.
Seems like it. I watched several episodes over the course of the evening, which was great, but there didn't seem to be any sign of the flood of Gobots stopping anytime soon. Would love to have the series On Demand, but this is a nice little shot of nostalgia.
Damn. That Galvatron really does look a lot better. If he was, like, a voyager or deluxe, I'd probably just buy the new one. I think I can hold off and wait for a sale, though.
You can definitely "over gimmick" a figure, but I do like when they add a few interesting touches.
Auto-morphing was usually pretty fun when done well. It doesn't even have to be complicated, the occasional "head pops out automatically when you fold down the chest" or "purely cosmetic gears...
Plate tectonics were a mistake. Bring back Pangea!
EDIT: Except Australia has to stay out. The rest of the world isn't ready for that type of wildlife.
Hoping for a good return on streaming. I'd like to see Paramount / Hasbro keep going in this direction for Transformers movies instead of returning to the Bay era feel.
