I can't see myself really biting for either of those two, but maybe some others, even assuming that only repaints are on the table. Purple Soundwave? Galvatron II? Magenta Hot Rod? Red helmed Ratchet? Much more interesting.
It is genuinely weird that half the Shockwave toy isn't included...
TF toys are far too expensive nowadays at this point for random heads glued on a body that doesn't really resemble them. Easy pass.
Don't really care for the rock copter either, wish that neat transformation had been used on a more traditional design.
As expected character wise. To be fair they have done quite a good job of one of my favourite ever designs, but I still am not sure if I really feel the need to own this. A few minor things it does better. But likewise a few things are worse (all the headsculpts are off).
It must also be said...
I think any suggestion that Optimus was off the table for a Haslab was just a working assumption by the team that if they wanted to do an Optimus they'd just put in him the main line rather than Haslab, but I can see how a RID Prime/Magnus back would be unlikely to fit inside retail price points...
We've been told by specialist retailers like Kapow Toys that Hasbro UK are soliciting heavily discounted Nemesis to UK retailers right now for what it's worth.
Omega Prime seems to fit the clues so far.
And I think is a pretty bad idea to the extent I'd be a bit concerned it wouldn't get funded.
Hasbro aren't capable of making an Omega Prime as good as the original toy, so it's very hard to see what the appeal would be.
Kapow are roughly the UK equivalent of BBTS for non-UKers. They were the retailer for Haslab Unicron in Europe since Pulse didn't exist at the time, so this is a non-trivial thing.
But I can't blame them - nothing Transformers is selling at full price any more for any retailer because they will...
Given we probably won't get another one for twenty years I'm so sad about what a mess that toy is. Ugly painted windows and pram wheels 30% too big for the chassis.
The current design team has obviously just given up on alt modes.
SS Magnus is just night and day better than the Earthrise one in person. You wouldn't regret it at all. Motormaster is fine but honestly you're not going to get the best out of it without chasing down the other three Stunticons.
Volumes 3 & 4 have just arrived for me, and include another (very much dropped and couldn't have fit with the actual ending they went with) idea that I remember from TMUK too, so it's interesting how more of this stuff was percolating in Roberts' brain at the time.
