Not a fan of that. It's one thing to block financial transactions(such as us companies paying for ads on questionable apps), something totally different to bar users from even accessing said services under penalty of law.
Funny thing is the shooting in question WAS technically at a private school. It just wasn't at a a highly exclusive one. Still it's telling that he admits they aren't even gonna try and solve the problem (there isn't enough profit in it)
I totally forgot the Vogtle plant in Georgia had its newest reactor start a sustained fission reaction this month. Construction on it started in 2009 and pretty much JUST wrapped up. They will be bringing another one online later this year if all goes to plan.
We didn't stop building them 40 years ago. The newest reactor in the US went online in 2016. I'm all for building more but only if we ensure the DoE and EPA have the teeth to prevent lax safety standards.
In some good news, the state I currently reside in(MD) is close to passing a law ensuring that Medicaid covers gender affirming care. https://www.washingtonblade.com/2023/03/21/md-senate-approves-transgender-rights-bill/

I'm all for banning TikTok on any major US Government campus and by government employees/contractors on a purely security related basis(By law all Chinese companies are part of the CCP's surveillance and intelligence gathering apparatus, after all.. In the US companies have some rights to block...
Japan, culturally, has a long tradition of rather extreme xenophobia. Up until the 19th century foreigners weren't even allowed outside of VERY specific areas and the ones who were allowed to visit were from a small list of nations.
All the 80's 30 minute toy adverts did those and the ONLY reason they did them was to appease regulators. Arguably the G.I. Joe ones had a more significant cultural impact.
I don't know. I do feel the indictment is pretty much a sure thing at this point. Weather or not we get a conviction... That's the part I'm questioning.
Axaday beat me to the punch. Pretty much said everything I was about to post, but I'll add this:
There is evidence that nutritional health actually DROPPED after the transition from hunter-gatherer to fully agrarian society in most places. The OTHER benefits simply outweighed the downsides.
