Possible but that seems like a step backwards. They've already moved away from "hidden until unlocked" tiers because of (rightful imo) complaints. Hiding the literal existence of a tier altogether would really annoy people.
That seems the most reasonable to me. They had all the assets for them (including tooling maybe), and sales went over by enough they figured they could sneak them in after the fact.
That being said, I see no reason that Hasbro wouldn't tell someone who asks how they came to be.
I'd be surprised if we did not get them loose. They released Yakface separate from the Barge (on a different card back). Though they've not rereleased the various figures that came with the Sentinal or Galactus yet, so who knows?
According to Gunn they were looking for another character to be on the street and Hasbro let them "use" Cy-kill, but it was nothing more than a one-off joke.
Super cool they're doing this but boy are they setting a dangerous precedent. Every Haslab from now to eternity will have everyone expecting a surprise after ending! :D
It's very much a top-to-bottom construction. They have gravitational technology in the SW universe, and it's safe to assume that tech is used to orient it a certain way (and to overcome it's natural, inward gravitational force).

Anyway, I like the looks though it's strange the head has so little paint detail. I'd dismiss it as an unfinished proto but everything else seems done. Meanwhile, I prefer this paint scheme to either Starscream...
Yeah, if they could've just found a way to get rid of any one of those hinges, it would've helped. But all three in such a small area really uglifies it.
