So, Netflix, you'll probably be thinking about doing more adaptations again....

Well...One Piece chapter 1094 came out and we got a BIG REVEAL in it, so I want to talk about it.

Spoilers below for that newest chapter!
I just want a moment to pat myself on the back for basically calling this!
But, I think the theming that fits the best with the silhouettes we've seen so far is actually yokai. These shadowy, kind of crumbled and weird-looking silhouettes kind of remind me the most of classical yokai artwork. Here's a list of possibilities: Ushi-Oni (Ox-spider), Gashadokuro (giant skeleton), Akashita (Red Tongue), Ogama (frog), Kamaitachi (sickle weasel), Itsumade (bird), Inugami (dog), Mikoshi-nyudo (extending neck), Nue (Monkey-Tiger), Yume no Seirei (Nightmare Old Man), Tsuchigumo (Demon Spider). The "Horns" actually looks a LOT like the artwork for a Ushi-Oni or Tsuchigumo. The Human actually does have a similar look to some human-like yokai like Yume no Seirei or Mikoshi-nyudo. So, I think this maybe matches what we've seen on the page the closest. Them having Mythical Zoan Fruits based on yokai could actually be pretty cool.

Hurray for me! (Mind you I ALSO thought they could be Demons or Constellations, too, but lets just ignore the fact that I was just throwing a bunch of stuff at a wall).

Anyway, yes, Saint Saturn is shown to have what is most probably a Ushi-Oni Mythical Zoan Fruit.

Of special note, according the Wikipedia, the Ushi-Oni ALSO has a example of having eye powers, like what we see in this chapter when Saturn makes a Marine's HEAD EXPLODE!

In Wakayama Prefecture, ushi-oni are mountain-dwelling beasts. Legend says when a hiker or traveler makes eye contact with the ushi-oni, the person cannot avert his or her gaze. The person's soul or energy is drained and he or she dies. This is called “Kage wo kuu (影を食う)” or sometimes "Kage wo nomu (影を飲む)", which translates to “eating the shadow” or "drinking the soul".[7][8]

I find the "eating the shadow" part especially interesting. Given that we've seen Gecko Moria's Shadow Fruit steal people's "souls" via their shadows. And the Gorosei are all CLOAKED in shadows. So...is it possible the Gorosei are all so much stronger because they've killed or absorbed a bunch of other people?

I DO like that there's a "5" in the summoning circle. I wonder if ALL the "5 Elder Stars" will have the same 5, or if they'll be 1-4 instead. We know from Baroque Works that Oda DOES like to number his villains in terms of strength.

I wonder if all the other Gorosei are types of "Oni", like this Ushi-oni. Could this tie back to Oars' race? Are the Gorosei using powers they stole from a people that they all but wiped out? And I'm still betting that the One Piece World is hollow with a literal "underworld" where there's these Demon/Oni people waiting to be saved. Kaido and Big Mom have to survive falling into a volcano somehow.

The other Gorosei COULD be mythical creatures from a BUNCH of different mythologies from around the world. Or something completely different.

But, for the moment let's assume that the other Gorosei will also have Yokai-inspired Fruits.

I predict that they will be:

Furaribi (Fire bird)-Marcus Mars. There's a BUNCH of fire elemental bird-like things in mythology. But...this one's actually a Yokai.

Inosasaou (Wood Bamboo Boar)-Shephard Ju Peter. For some reason, this isn't listed in a lot of the OTHER online Yokai lists. But, I think it's a "real" Yokai, and not just one made up for video games.

Umibozu (Water Spirit)-Topman Warcury, It could be some other water yokai, but this fits the "blob" we saw in silhouette. Although, a Hanzaki (Giant Water Salamander) could also fit. I kind of want Topman to be the "Tusks", but since his element is water, I can't find a lot of yokai that fit. Ju Peter just fits the "Tusks" better, I think.

Otakemaru (Sword wielding Oni)-Ethan Baron V Nusjuro. Of note, he wielded Three Holy Swords but gave 2 of them away....which reminds me of Zoro.

Aka Shita (Dark Cloud Red Tongue)- Imu. It kind of makes for Imu to be a cloud, that covers the Sun that is Nika. Although, I am tempted to predict that Imu could be a Ryuto, a light dragon, just because that would be neat.

And they might ALL be based on Onryo (Dark vengeful spirits) or Goryo (Vengeful spirits...that end up worshiped as gods in order to appease them). So they might be people who were wronged somehow long ago.

There's a BUNCH more yokai that they COULD be though. These are just my best guesses. I can't wait to see all of them!

Also, have another One Piece theory video that I just think is neat.

Joyboy is from Egyptian Mythology?!

TLDR? Basically, Joyboy's story MIGHT have a lot of parallels with Osiris from Egyptian mythology. It's a interesting watch.

Also, that thumbnail might SEEM ridiculous before you watch it, but it kind of convinced me it might be right. There's a possibility that Joyboy's body MIGHT have been sacrificed to create the Poneglyphs...and maybe even Sea Stone. There's a lot of different mythologies where a dead god or creature's body gets transformed into the land itself. Oda might be doing that literally.

Watched the start of the new series of Rising of the Shield Hero & Goblin Slayer, both pretty good, Goblin Slayer opens with the same scene as season 1 but in a monotone colour and then its more or less setting up for the next ep with a new rookie character! Shield Hero, is our lead trying to build upon his new village that he has been granted and trying to recover the missing people, so in all, both had soild starts to their seasons

We recently had a discussion about underrated anime, anybody care to share what they consider to be overrated anime?

Mine would be Akira. Kaneda and his bike are certainly iconic anime imagery, and I get how it was a groundbreaking film at the time, but the movie just didn't impress me or draw me in like other anime has.

Good thing I'm a dragon cause this is the hottest take: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Before I was really familiar with the breadth of Anno's influences, I'll admit I was sucked in by all the "this is a psychological masterpiece" bandied about it(and I'll admit there is probably something to how it worked as therapy for him), and how it's hailed as a mecha deconstruction show. But nowadays it looks to me like it's mostly a super robot show just playing with Christian tropes like how Ultraman sometimes does(see all the times Ultramen have been crucified), and there's more than a bit of Ultraman itself in there. The "so brilliant" bit of how it ended on an inner eye/mind thing and "Congratulations"? That wasn't meant to be anything special, that was just because they ran out of budget before the last two episodes and needed to figure out a way to wrap it up at minimal cost. The End of Eva stuff was far closer to what was originally envisioned for the end of it.

I also feel like all the Eva redone movies were less because he really wanted to, and more so he could fund the things he ACTUALLY wanted to do, like the various Shin movies he was involved in. It may not be his whole motivation(as some of it could be jsut wanting to do stuff he couldn't at the time due to mental state or budget) but I think that's a significant part of it.

I have a soft spot for Evangelion, but it is definitely overrated for what it is: an Ultraman knockoff. (Except for Jet Alone, which knocks off Jet Jaguar, obv) It's got its enjoyable moments, but there are too many similarities to common Ultraman tropes and quirks to ignore the clear influence here. This is kind of Anno's MO, though; he even knocks off himself in Shin Godzilla, when the end battle is practically a re-creation of Operation Yashima with vaguely Godzilla window dressing.

Like you said, I think a lot of the hype in the West stemmed from an unfamiliarity with Ultraman in general; thankfully most of the Ultra-series has become a lot more accessible.

I don't regret watching Evangelion, but it's not something I've ever felt any desire to watch again. Couldn't be bothered to keep up with Rebuild either.

I have to share this....

For all those who watched or read Oh My Goddess!, I'm sure it crossed your mind at least once that Belldandy seemed just a little too practically perfect in every way. (and we won't even get into how a minor Norse goddess somehow fits the Yamato nadeshiko trope.)

Did it ever occur to anyone just how such closeness-to-perfection (remember, we've seen her struggle at times, particularly in early stories) could be attained? Well, someone did over at Fanfiction.net.

This story -- will make you cry.

It's called, simply enough, "Wrath".

We're FINALLY getting a new Dragon Ball anime! I guess the Super manga finally got enough chapters ahead to...

...Huh...

Not what I think ANYONE was expecting. It does look fun, though.

I don't know, to be honest, it looks nice and all but I miss the art style of Z, a lot of modern anime, tend to be, to clean and with Dragonball, I think the Super heroes series is just dragging the series down if you ask me, sure I know its meant to promote stuff that about in Japan but honestly with Super in general, its placement in canon, just kind of hinders it, for example, Goku tells Vegeta about Uub, long before the tourament and in Z, Vegeta is asking about this "Strong" fighter that he can't sense and gets told about what Goku wished for when Kid Buu was defeated! The resent movie, was just terrible in terms of story, about the only thing that made sense in that film, was Pan's training, it treated Piccolo poorly when he meant to be pretty smart, like forgetting they could wish for Goku & Vegeta to be bought back to Earth, even the Red Ribbon army was a joke in that film, about the best thing to come out of Super was the Future Trunks arc and some of the tourament of power, thou that was more like the battle royal of power, thou that could of been done better if you ask me as it was Universe 7 knocking out pretty much all of the other Universes and that ending, where the High priest, says something about Zeno forseeing this outcome, I honestly, found that to be sloppy writing, at no point were we given any indication of Zeno being super smart when he always giving off the personalty of a kid wanting to have fun and the tourament, led into nothing, no wider impact upon the universes, it just reset everything to how it was before, thus making it, POINTLESS, I maybe nick picking, but these are my honest thoughts in regards to Super, so this new series, kind has me scratching my head and asking "What is the point?" outside of making more money and the series concluded nicely with Z ending, I wasn't the biggest fan of Super because it kept stalling and the only filler that might of been good, we never got, Goten & Trunks protecting 17's Island, so what was the point of that setup, surely 17 could of located those potchers before hand and dealt with them with ease!

Anyway, watched the start of Doctor Stone New World part 2 earlier, good ep, I really been enjoying Doctor Stone as a series, its generally fun to watch and learn a bit of science along the way

I’ve spoiled Dr Stone for myself after getting a Jump digital subscription. It will be still cool to see where they might change things up ( so far not much),

DB Daima…. Not exactly hyped to throw another midquel between the already established midquel series. Glad to see Toriyama more involved, but de-aging everyone this time?! It could be fun more in the way of the original series. Except everyone’s a squirt not just Goku and Krillin.

Earlier, I watched the first two eps of The Kingdoms of Ruin, its pretty much a revenge story from the looks of things as the MC sees his mentor get killed and after spending ten years in a prison, gets a jail break and enacts his revenge!

60 years ago today, on October 20, 1963, Tetsujin-28-go aired on Japanese TV, becoming the first-ever series to feature a mecha.

Without Tetsujin, there would be no Great Mazinger, no Getter Robo, no Gundam, no Macross --and no Transformers.

Intersting.

I just watched the latest ep of Rising of the Shield Hero, it was pretty good in terms of actual story, instead of focusing upon the main leads of the series, its focusing upon a side character who going to become important later on and we get a glimpse of what the king was like in the past on top of why he dislikes the shield hero, thou what happens to those who attacked the village and surpposely having protection, is one of those feel good moments, thou I don't pity their fates in the slightest as they bought it upon themselves attacking a village primary full of children!

If you've ever been curious about One Piece but was always on the fence about starting it, do I have news for you! They'll be streaming the entire series for free on Youtube soon!

Now you have no excuse not to catch up.

...Other than not wanting to start a series that's over a 1000 episodes long. But, hey, at least you CAN do it for free, now.

Well, I didn't know about this. A live action Yu Yu Hakusho series!

They're already doing Toguro, so I guess they're adapting a fair chunk of the series. Don't know how compressed it's going to end up feeling.
