Made this for Board game night. It's Peanut Butter cup monkey bread. A recipe I found online.

I rolled a mini peanut butter cup into each ball of dough. Topped it with a butter/brown sugar glaze. Let it bake, then poured a peanut butter glaze over it and topped it with those Reese peanut butter chips.

It tasted amazing.

Did this a few weeks ago.
First attempt at macarons! The dough was super thick, not sure what I did wrong. They took some extra baking time, and while they don't look that great (no "feet"), they still tasted good.

British curry, mixed with Japanese ingredients, gives us "Chicken Katsu Tikka Masala"! We followed it with British cakes and sweets!

Country-fried steak, and regular steak (both well-done), onion gravy, assorted veggies and pumpkin ("because Halloween", according to the missus).

My gf also made a surprise, "spooky" icecream dessert.

Feels appropriate, as there's nothing scarier than a well-done steak!*

* Country fried presumably being the exception, I've not heard anyone say one way or the other.

When I went to America, I largely avoided any beef, steak or burgers (except McDonalds) as I heard "well-done" isn't really understood over there (just as it's not in Japan). I've had good, well-done steak at Peruvian and Korean BBQ places in Japan, but if I want a good (i.e., well-done) steak, I either ask my gf to cook one, or go to the UK/place run by a Brit.

There are certain cuts of beef that require them to be cooked through but a little bit of red isn't bad. Just an FYI.

Ironbite-and also most chefs in America understand how to cook a steak.

Before this gets out of hand: Forgot to add a bit in spoiler tags that I'm joking, I really don't GAF how anyone eats their steak, as long as they aren't being wasteful about it. I just find the discourse around it like it's some sort of war crime to be amusing. ;P

For me, the many (Japanese) restaurants that have served me bloody steaks after I've give to great lengths to ask for, check for understanding of and check if they can actually serve well done steaks, has put my guard up. Outback Steakhouse in Japan was the last straw, where my French friend ordered rare and I ordered well-done, but we were both given the standard medium-rare anyway. After that, whether I'm in mixed company or don't want the stress of having to beg or threaten for a well-done steak, I just ordered anything else but steak, even at a dedicated, so-called "steakhouse".

It was such culture shock bring a Brit, who's used to "well-done" as the defacto style for roast beef or steak at most restaurants or dinner parties.

And it seems I'm not alone...

"...Nothing to do with the taste, everything to do with the consistency. I’m from eastern europe, here everything is well done, so when I first came to the US and tried an american steak at a somewhat upscale restaurant, don’t know if it was medium, rare, medium rare, whatever and I couldn’t care less, I thought I was gonna puke across the table. It had the consistency of rubber and phlegm, and then for a week I had the worst indigestion ever.

But I didn’t give up, I continued to try american style steaks all with the same result. Even tho the taste was marginally richer than a properly cooked well done steak back home, that phlegm rubber consistency and the red water that dripped out of it put me off for the time being. Might try forcing myself to eat that stuff again next time I visit but the chances are VERY slim I’ll ever end up liking it..."

I grew up eating well-done meat, now I prefer it on the medium-rare side. Warm crispy outside, soft inside.

Oh, sure, you should absolutely get your steak the way you want it, and the weird differences between regions is, well, weird. I'm just saying people should be able to eat steak how they want.

Well, in Japan, you can have any type of steak you want, as long as it's medium rare... :(
