"Appealing to the GOP" didn't work when Kamala tried it, didn't work when HILLARY tried it and it ain't gonna ******* work NOW.

The GOP is all-in behind Donald because he is doing everything to prop up the system that keeps them on top of everyone else because they were born rich and white. And he'll keep them richer and whiter.

success from here on out lies in the youth; the market that mostly sat things out in the pivotal elections because they (frankly, RIGHTLY) believed the Democrat Party had nothing to offer them. And what they see now as an official party response is a first-term Senator who's voted for EIGHT of Donald's Cabinet posts (including Noem the PuppyKiller) openly praising the reason none of them will ever own a home or retire.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

More to the point: appealing to the GOP means moving towards their point of view. Their point of view is fascism. We do not want to meet them halfway. We want to bury them both literally and metaphorically.

I see now where the miscommunication is.

Paladin, no one was trying to appeal to the GOP. They were trying to shame them. Embarrass them using the specter of Reagan. Maybe give some of the older ones a thing to think about (though we all know how that will work) Nothing was meant to appeal or appease. It was trying to get them to look at what they've become.

They watched him bungle for four years, incite an insurrection after he lost and rewarded him with another term.

Republicans don't FEEL shame.

I'm pretty sure Ted Cruz tried the "That's not very Reagan of you" argument in early 2016. It didn't work.

And whether we like him or not, he's still the closest thing to a living god the GOP has had in the past 50 years.
He was. But now that's Trump. Trump has turned almost the entire party into a cult who legitimately think of him as a literal god, and will gladly throw anyone under the bus, past or present, if their vision for America doesn't align perfectly with his. Anyone who isn't in that cult doesn't need to be reminded how far things have fallen. Who does that leave for gestures like this to be targeting?

Maybe the Reagan worship among average Republican voters was never as intense as FOX portrayed it.

Walz wants the fight. That's the thing, he's an attack dog. You don't just leash them back up and expect them to slink back under the porch. No, he's gonna want another round or two.

I'd put him as a high contender for the democratic nominee if we get the next go around.

and let's check in on one of the supposed frontrunners for 2028.

Okay, everybody gird yourselves, because I have to admit that Trump was right about something.

*deep, calming breaths*

Just over a year ago, during one of his inane speeches, Trump referred to California Governor Gavin Newsom as "New-scum." And while not for the reasons he thinks, I have to say that Trump was right on the money.

Now excuse me. I need to take a shower.

Isn't this the same governor who told his constituents to avoid social gatherings during covid and then attended a lavish indoor dinner party?

Yea, Newsom is an opportunist. He will do what he thinks will get him elected, nothing more, nothing less.
