The only stupider thing I'm going to hear today are idiots rejoicing over this because mUh wOkE and LOL hASbRo fLopS, like the Cybertruck and Twitter burning to the ground have been such stellar business moves.

Everyone complaining about Hasbro's build quality now is gonna be longing for these days once Musk is running things.

No joke, the first time I ever saw a Cybertruck, I had no idea what it was and legit thought it was a privately owned custom-made vehicle that was built based off the design of something from a sci-fi video game.

It looks like something that belongs in the movie "Damnation Alley", and has all the reputation for quality of a Yugo.

Just wait till the next line is Optimus as a Cybertruck! Megatron will be whatever brand he has beef with at the time.
I kid you not, this is one of the pluses that genius fans are going to point to. "Yeah! Now there can be a Cybertruck Transformer!" as if (1) anyone outside of Musk simps want that and (2) this were the only way to get one even if people did want one.

In all honesty, I look at the design of a Cybertruck and think it would make a decently shaped foot for a combiner, Vehicle Voltron-style.

Just fold away the wheels and attach it to the Combiner's leg.

elon musk is not going to buy or even seriously attempt to buy hasbro and people need to stop giving that story attention

'oh but he bought twitter, what would stop him from buying hasbro?'
1. twitter was actively looking to be acquired
2. when he tried to back out of the deal to acquire twitter, they sued him in order to force him to follow through with the contracts that he signed
3. hasbro isn't trying to get acquired and hostile takeovers are not just 'you show up with a bunch of money and buy the company'

or for more detailed reasons why, check this bluesky thead:

btw site staff, can we add bluesky embeds to this site considering that twitter is functionally a right-wing echochamber these days and there's been a mass migration over to bluesky?

God I hope you're right.

It's bad enough being under Chris Cocks and a bunch of shareholders, I couldn't imagine how shitty it'd be under Musk's sole discretion.

Well, there's always the nagging feeling that these c-suites haven't of late shown much of the ability to see past a big enough dollar sign, and that's this dipshit's only playing card.

But yeah, this is just more bluster. Can tell by how the tweet in question was set up by one of the usual bloviators whining about something.

tbf I think 2 might be true :p
I meant that Hasbro could of course just license the design akin to how they did the GM designs (as in, no company needed to get bought by any company). But I see what you mean from a "yeah, but why the hell would they want to do that" point of view. :)

Yeah, exactly. They COULD license it, but the Cybertruck is such a massively unpopular design, like even a portion of his echoheads seem to dislike it, that I can't see them ever wanting to do it. Though there is a small part of me that kinda wants them to, just and only just becuase it would be funny as hell if the toy sold better then actual vehicle.

Nah, Megatron becomes the heroic* face of the brand and turns into a Cybertruck.

Maybe he renames them "Megatrucks".

* I don't mean like Shattered Glass or something. It's the same Megatron we're familiar with, only he's now the protagonist.

God I hope you're right.

I don't know if it gets much worse than where we are now, but it certainly wouldn't get much better under him, of that much I'm certain.
